Frisco to Ready Roads for DFW-Wide Freeze ❄️
By Alex Reece | 4:29 PM Jan 8, 2025 CST
Frisco officials are gearing up for icy conditions as the National Weather Service predicts snow, sleet, and ice starting Jan. 9. Public Works Director Gabe Johnson shared that sanders will work 24/7 in 12-hour shifts to cover bridges, culverts, and major roads.
Cold Weather Tips for Residents:
Drip faucets to prevent freezing pipes.
Insulate outdoor faucets and exposed pipes.
Turn off sprinklers to avoid icy driveways and sidewalks.
For emergencies, residents can call the Public Works 24/7 hotline at 972-292-5800.
Exide Plant Cleanup Makes Progress
Frisco officials are advocating for state funding to clean up the former Exide Plant site near Main Street. This cleanup is key for the development of Grand Park, a future 300-acre green space along Stewart Creek.

Texas DPS Requests Funding for 1,200 New Staff Members
By Hannah Norton | 4:13 PM Jan 7, 2025 CST
The Texas Department of Public Safety is asking lawmakers for $229 million to hire 1,224 new employees and upgrade technology to address driver license appointment delays.
What’s driving the request?
REAL ID compliance is causing delays.
Texans in metro areas face wait times of over 60–90 days.
New upgrades may allow residents to upload documents to a secure portal before appointments.
Beginning May 7, 2025, REAL ID-compliant licenses will be required for domestic flights and access to federal facilities. Learn how to get yours here.
