Frisco Insider - Water Issues + Homage + More

The Friday Recap for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco. Hope y’all had a wonderful Christmas!

If you’re reading this while still digesting Grandma’s mashed potatoes or searching for AA batteries for a new toy, you’re not alone. The wrapping paper has settled, the leftovers are dwindling, and we’re all somewhere between holiday hangover and New Year reboot mode.

Whether you’re braving post Christmas sales, soaking in the Texas “winter” sunshine, or just trying to remember what day it is, I’ve got your Friday news, events, and weather to keep you in the loop before the new year sneaks up on us.

💧 Hard Water Woes: Frisco’s Water Heater Repairs Hit Record High

Turns out, your water heater might be feeling the post-holiday stress too. Frisco’s 2025 Water Quality Report revealed sky high water hardness levels (509 ppm), over four times the national average.

  • Translation: more minerals = more scale buildup = more repairs.

  • Local plumbers say water heater repairs are now higher in Frisco than anywhere else in DFW.

  • Fix: Experts recommend flushing or descaling your unit every 8–9 months to prevent damage and soaring energy bills.

Whether you’ve got a tankless system or a classic heater, those minerals don’t discriminate. So before you lose hot water mid shower in January, it might be time to show your plumbing a little TLC.

🎅 Hundreds Join Frisco Santa Run to Honor Fallen Cyclists

Christmas Eve morning brought tears, hugs, and hope as 400 people gathered in Frisco for the Santa Run 5K to honor Scott Mages and Andrew Kocher, two members of the Frisco Triathlon Club tragically killed in a biking accident last weekend.

  • The community dressed in Santa hats and cycling gear, running in memory of the two men.

  • Both were training for the upcoming Dallas Ironman in March.

  • Friends described them as selfless and caring, the kind of guys who stayed late after every ride to make sure everyone made it home safe.

Their legacy is already inspiring change. A GoFundMe has been set up to raise money for cycling safety improvements across North Texas, reminding drivers to share the road and slow down, it’s 30 seconds of kindness that could save a life.

If you live in Frisco, you know the feeling, you want something new and satisfying, just not another drive-through or chain. Kitchen Master Bistro offers a refreshing alternative.

Set in the center of town, this local kitchen focuses on food that feels both familiar and inspired. Chef prepared dishes, sauces developed over years, and attention to detail all come together on every plate. It’s not about speed, it’s about care.

Perfect for a peaceful lunch, a low key date night, or a dependable family dinner, Kitchen Master Bistro turns a simple outing into something more memorable. Regulars often say the flavor speaks for itself, which may explain its reputation as one of Frisco’s best kept secrets.

🚓 Frisco Man Arrested After Threatening Family, Attempting to Set Home on Fire

A 22-year-old Frisco man, Manojh Lella, was arrested after allegedly threatening his family and trying to set his home on fire earlier this week.

  • Police responded to a mental health related call at the residence.

  • Lella faces arson and terroristic threat charges.

  • Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and officials emphasized there’s no evidence of a threat to local places of worship.

The case remains under investigation, and Frisco PD says they’re focusing on ensuring everyone involved receives appropriate care and support.

🥭 Upscale Indian Fusion Spot “Mango Yard” Opening Soon

Frisco’s dining scene is getting a sweet new addition. The Mango Yard, an upscale Indian fusion restaurant, is set to open in early 2026 near University Dr. & Coit Rd.

  • Expect a menu that mixes Indian favorites (like biryani and kebabs) with Italian, Asian, and Mediterranean twists, think chicken tikka flatbreads and alfredo style rigatoni with Indian spices.

  • The restaurant promises a chic lounge vibe with natural materials, 120 seats inside, and 30 on the patio.

It’s the kind of spot that makes “dinner plans in Frisco” sound a lot more exciting.
