The Wednesday Loop for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco.
Happy Wednesday, friends! The news today might feel a bit gloomy, lawsuits, shutdowns, and sports drama galore, but let’s keep our spirits high. After all, you’re awesome, and no government shutdown, cold front, or billionaire sports feud can change that.
Now grab your coffee (or your third one….no judgment) and let’s get into the latest Texas headlines, upcoming events, and this week’s Frisco riddle.

Texas Edition
Texas Attorney General Sues Tylenol Company Over Autism Claims
Texas AG Ken Paxton is taking Johnson & Johnson to court, accusing them of failing to warn consumers about potential autism risks tied to Tylenol use during pregnancy. This marks the first state level lawsuit of its kind, following recent federal guidance discouraging pregnant women from taking acetaminophen.
Paxton says he’s “holding Big Pharma accountable,” while the company insists the science isn’t conclusive and vows to fight the claims. The move has sparked a fiery debate in both the medical and political worlds, with experts saying the science points to “no causal link,” but others arguing consumers deserve clear warnings. Either way, expect this to be a legal marathon, not a sprint.
Mavericks Seek Legal Ruling Against Stars as Arena Feud Boils Over
Forget basketball, the real showdown is happening off the court. The Dallas Mavericks have officially filed a lawsuit against the Dallas Stars, accusing them of breaching their arena agreement and “holding the American Airlines Center hostage.”
The feud centers on the Stars moving their HQ to Frisco (yep, our backyard!) and disagreements over a $300 million AAC renovation deal that went sideways. The Mavericks want legal clarity and control of the arena’s management company, while the Stars say they’ve done nothing wrong and just want a fair shake.
Both teams promise fans won’t see disruptions in games, but with billionaires, city politics, and egos in the mix, let’s just say it’s more dramatic than a playoff series.
Federal Shutdown to Halt November SNAP Benefits
The ongoing federal government shutdown has officially hit the dinner table, SNAP (food stamp) benefits will pause starting Nov. 1 if Congress doesn’t reach a deal soon. That means 3.5 million Texans, including 1.7 million children, could temporarily lose access to food assistance.
The USDA says their funding has run out, and emergency funds can’t legally be used, though critics argue otherwise. Texas food banks are already gearing up for a surge in demand, with H-E-B pledging $5 million in donations to help struggling families. It’s the first time in over 60 years that SNAP has been interrupted.
So if you or someone you know needs help, call 2-1-1 and press option 1 to find local food resources. No Texan should go hungry, not on our watch.
Analysis: Texas Ranked One of the Least Safe States in America
A new study from WalletHub has some tough news, Texas ranks 48th out of 50 states for overall safety, beating only Mississippi and Louisiana. The report analyzed five key factors: personal safety, financial safety, road safety, workplace safety, and emergency preparedness.
Experts point to high uninsured rates and frequent natural disasters as major contributors. Vermont topped the list as the safest state, which, let’s be honest, makes sense when your biggest danger is slipping on maple syrup. Still, analysts say Texas could climb the ranks by improving road safety and access to healthcare.
Until then, buckle up, stay alert, and maybe buy that home insurance you’ve been putting off. But also…..we live in Frisco, so I think I can confidently say that we’re excused from this study, thankfully our city is very safe.
