The Monday Scoop for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco
Happy Monday, friends! We’ve officially survived the first weekend of September, complete with scorpion scares, and enough “is this finally fall?” conversations to fill a group text. Not to mention the decent weather. The good news is that this week looks sunny, steady, and filled with events to keep us distracted while we wait for the State Fair corndogs. Let’s get into it.

Frisco Memorial Dedicates Season to Austin Metcalf
The Frisco Memorial Warriors have dedicated their entire season to Austin Metcalf, the standout senior tragically killed in a stabbing during a track meet last spring.
Location: Ford Center at The Star
Motto: “All In,” with the L’s replaced by 11 (Austin’s jersey number)
Austin’s twin brother, Hunter, carried his jersey onto the field during the coin toss
Family members filled the stands in matching “All In” shirts to show their support
Fans and players alike say this season is about more than football, it’s about honoring Austin’s memory and rallying around his family. Every play this season will be a silent tribute to the teammate, friend, and brother who left too soon.

$550M Universal Theme Park in Frisco Taking Shape 🎢
The Universal Kids Resort is rising fast on its 97 acre site at Panther Creek Pkwy & the Tollway.
🎢 Brightly colored attractions and coaster tracks now visible from aerial shots
🏨 Planned: 300 room hotel + restaurants, shops, family rides
📅 Timeline: Construction started in 2023 → Opening in 2026
💼 Expected impact: New jobs, new tourism, and lots of traffic (sorry in advance)
While it won’t be Orlando sized, Frisco’s version will be the first of its kind, a fully kid focused Universal park. Translation: a new go to birthday spot and another reason your relatives will “suddenly” want to visit.
Weekly Roadwork Roundup 🚧
Fresh cones, same headaches. This week’s construction zones:
New Pavement: Rock Creek Ln.
Ongoing Pavement: Stallion Ranch Rd., Speargrass Dr., Mistley Park
Pavement + Utility: Kings Ridge Rd. between Castle Dr. & Camelot Dr.
Add an extra five minutes to the school drop off shuffle, your future self will thank you.
