The Friday Recap for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco.

It’s Friday, you made it. The cicadas are humming, the sprinklers are spinning, and if you’ve ever considered doing Pilates with a margarita in hand, this is your weekend. From intense courtroom updates to biking with city officials, I’ve got everything you need to know before stepping out (or staying in).

Let’s get into it.

Trial Date Set in Track Meet Murder Case

The community is still reeling from the fatal stabbing of 17 year-old Austin Metcalf at Kuykendall Stadium back in April. Now, a trial date is on the books.

  • Who: Karmelo Anthony, 17, former Frisco Centennial student

  • What: Charged with murder after allegedly stabbing Metcalf during a school track meet dispute

  • When: Trial begins June 1, 2026, in Collin County

  • Status: Anthony was released Monday after his bond was lowered to $250K (originally $1M)

His defense is leaning on a self-defense argument, but the court battle promises to be emotional. Families are bracing for what’s ahead which includes hearings, motions, and maybe a plea deal before trial. If found guilty, Anthony could face life in prison.
