The Monday Scoop for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco.
Happy Labor Day and happy first day of September! Yesterday’s rain may have watered the lawns and cooled things off, but today’s all about firing up the grill, lounging by the pool, and maybe sneaking in a nap before the Cowboys chatter kicks up tonight. September is here, y’all, the month where we convince ourselves fall is “right around the corner,” even while it’s still 90 degrees outside.

North Texas Mom Charged With Murder in Baby’s Hot Car Death
A heartbreaking case has shaken Frisco: a 27 year old Dallas woman has been charged with murder after allegedly intentionally leaving her 15 month old baby in a car with no AC for more than two hours during 95° heat.
Location: 3200 block of Preston Road
Child age: 15 months
Time in vehicle: ~2+ hours without air conditioning
Bond: $250,000 | If convicted: 5 years to life in prison + $10,000 fine
The child later died at Medical City Plano, and investigators say the mother knowingly left the baby in the hot car while she went to work. Police are reminding residents that even a few minutes in a hot car can be deadly for children or pets.
Texas Health Frisco Debuts 2nd Cath Lab for Heart Care
Big upgrades are coming to Texas Health Frisco’s heart and vascular care with the opening of a second cardiac catheterization lab.
📍 Location: 12400 Dallas Parkway
🏥 Ribbon cutting: Aug. 19
💉 What it does: Diagnoses and treats blocked arteries, heart valve disease, heart failure, and more
It means shorter wait times and better care for patients facing serious heart conditions in our growing city.
Frisco Proposes 2025 Property Tax Rate of $0.425517
Heads up, homeowners: Frisco’s proposed tax rate for 2025 is $0.425517 per $100 valuation.
Public Hearing: Sept. 16 @ 6:30 PM, City Hall
Average homestead taxable value: $581,925 (up 2.2% from last year)
Average annual tax bill: $2,476.19 (an increase of about $54)
This rate is higher than the no-new-revenue tax rate, but still within voter approval limits, so no citywide election is required. In short, expect a slightly higher bill, and if you’ve got strong feelings, the public hearing is your chance to be heard.
Weekly Roadwork Roundup
Because September wouldn’t be complete without orange cones and detours:
New Pavement Work: Stallion Ranch Rd.
Ongoing Pavement: Speargrass Dr. & Mistley Park
Utility Work: Kings Ridge Rd. between Castle Dr. & Camelot Dr.
Plan extra time if these roads are part of your daily school drop off survival route.
