Frisco Insider - Tragedy + Road Projects + More

The Monday Scoop for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco.

June’s here, which means it’s officially the season of popsicles melting faster than your patience, kids home 24/7, and traffic cones that seem to multiply like rabbits. Whether you’re easing into summer or already counting down to back to school sales, I’ve got your fix of Frisco happenings and helpful updates.

Let’s dive in.

Tragedy at Stonebriar: 7 Year Old Girl Found Dead in Pond

Frisco was shaken over the weekend after a missing 7-year-old girl was found unresponsive in a pond near Stonebriar Centre.

The child was last seen around 9 PM Saturday near 2401 Preston Rd, close to Uncle Julio’s.
First responders discovered her shoes by the water’s edge.
She was pulled from the pond and rushed to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Frisco Fire, Police, and state agencies responded swiftly, but how the girl ended up in the water remains unclear. The incident is under investigation. Our hearts are with the family during this heartbreaking time.

🚧 10 Major Transportation Projects That Will Shape Frisco’s Future

Construction season is in full swing. Here’s a quick look at some big traffic-shifting upgrades coming your way:

  • PGA Parkway is expanding into a 6 lane mega-stretch from Preston to Coit ($31.1M, done by Q3 2026).

  • Mahard Parkway is getting six shiny new lanes connecting to 380.

  • Dallas Parkway: Phase 5 adds a new lane from Panther Creek to PGA Parkway.

  • Gaylord Pkwy, Teel Pkwy, Meadow Hill, Lebanon Rd, and Hillcrest Rd are all seeing major widening or redesigns in the next 2–4 years.

TLDR: Expect orange cones, longer drive times, and a much smoother Frisco in the future.

🚗 Weekly Roadwork Watch

⚠️ Expect delays around these key areas:

  • S. Hillcrest @ SH 121 – New pavement work

  • Warren Parkway / Preston Rd – Lane closures for intersection improvements

  • Kings Ridge at Red Cedar + Lenox Ln @ Eldorado Pkwy – Ongoing lane updates

  • Sahalle Dr. & Commonwealth Dr. – Pavement replacement

Most of this work will wrap in about 2 weeks (weather permitting), so maybe just pretend your commute is a scenic detour for now.
