The Friday Recap for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco! 🎃

Happy Friday and Happy Halloween weekend. The pumpkins are carved, the costumes are ironed (or at least Amazon primed), and half the city’s front lawns look like Spirit Halloween exploded. Whether you’re braving the sugar rush with the kids or sneaking into a grown up costume contest, I’ve got your treats, local news, weekend events, and weather that’s spooky good.

🛒 Trader Joe’s Finally Coming to Frisco

It’s happening, folks. After years of wishful thinking and Reddit rumors, Trader Joe’s is officially setting up shop in Frisco.

While the exact location and opening date are still under wraps, the grocery giant confirmed plans to move north, joining the city’s already buzzing grocery scene with H-E-B, Walmart, and a planned Whole Foods.

Highlights:

  • This will be Frisco’s first ever Trader Joe’s.

  • Expect all the classics, Everything But The Bagel Seasoning, Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups, and those seasonal snacks that disappear faster than a bowl of Halloween candy.

  • The new location could open as early as 2026, according to early chatter.

For longtime fans, this news is super exciting. For everyone else, you’re about to find out why people write love letters to this grocery store.

âšœ Toyota Stadium’s $200 Million Glow Up Begins

Frisco’s sports crown jewel is getting a massive makeover. FC Dallas and Toyota just extended their partnership for another decade as the stadium undergoes nearly $200 million in renovations, set for completion by 2028.

Upgrades include:

  • 4,000 new seats

  • A new east side canopy for much-needed shade

  • Expanded club and suite spaces for that VIP feel

Oh, and here’s the kicker (pun intended): this could help Frisco land the 2031 Women’s World Cup. Not bad for our little city that loves to win big.

đŸ§Œ Frisco Health Inspections Reveal Major Violations

If you’re dining out this weekend, maybe check the latest Frisco restaurant inspection report first, because yikes.

From Oct. 12–25, inspectors checked 101 restaurants and found some unsettling issues:

  • Chennai CafĂ©: 4 live roaches in buffet area (Score: 14)

  • Gallo Nero: 1 live roach in the kitchen (Score: 8)

  • K & K African Market: Dirty freezers flagged for cleaning (Score: 26)

  • Red Hot Chilli Pepper: “Extensive” trash and debris outside dumpster (Score: 21)

  • Thai Spice: Hot/cold temp issues (Score: 15)

Scores above 30 trigger potential closure, so none failed, but some are on thin ice.

Frisco Educator Named Texas’ Top Social Studies Teacher

A standing ovation for Stephanie Conklin from Clark Middle School, who was just named the 2025 Texas Middle School Social Studies Teacher of the Year.

  • 38 years in education (21 right here in Frisco)

  • Known for connecting students to history through civic engagement and empathy

  • Will be formally honored next month at the Texas Council for the Social Studies luncheon

Her secret? “It’s not about memorizing facts, it’s about creating good citizens.” That’s the kind of teacher every student remembers for life.
