The Wednesday Loop for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco.
Okay… can we talk about yesterday’s weather? It was shady. Not “a little cloudy.” Not “spring vibes.” It was the kind of sky that made you question your life choices at 4:30 PM.
And now here we are again, umbrellas on standby, jackets back out, and this edition somehow turning into Plano Insider because Plano is absolutely taking over the weekend lineup. Frisco, I promise I still love you.
Let’s get into it.

🌪️ Baseball Sized Hail & Tornado Threat Across North Texas
Tuesday was officially labeled a First Alert Weather Day, and for good reason.
A dry line and cold front pushed through North Texas, bringing the threat of baseball sized hail (2.75 inches), damaging winds up to 60 mph, and even isolated tornadoes. A tornado watch was issued for the DFW metroplex until 9 p.m, and warnings were triggered in surrounding counties including Jack and Wise.
The main severe window hit between 4–6 p.m., right when everyone was either commuting or pretending to “wrap up early.” Hail up to 3.5 inches was possible, just shy of softball sized. Because apparently golf ball hail wasn’t dramatic enough.
The good news? Storms quiet down overnight. The not so good news? More showers Thursday and steady rain Friday. Over the next five days, 1"–2.5" of rain is expected, with heavier totals south of us.
Basically: protect your car. And your sanity.
🎺 Plano Teen’s Royal Promposal Goes Viral (4 Million Views)
A Plano West senior just set the promposal bar for your kids….dangerously high.
Blaine Ahnemann surprised his girlfriend Ori Krakowski with a full medieval style production: trumpet players, coconuts for horse sound effects, a scripted royal decree (“hear ye, hear ye”), and a dramatic street performance outside her house.
The video racked up more than 4 million views on Instagram within days.
Both students are in the school band (he plays trombone, she plays trumpet), and he had apparently been planning this for over a year. The couple has known each other since freshman year, and prom is this weekend.
He summed it up perfectly:
“If the girl you’re prom-posing to isn’t almost blushing from embarrassment because of how cheesy it is, then you’re not doing it right.”
Middle schoolers across Collin County are now taking notes.
🚑 Plano Fire Rescue Named 2025 EMS Provider of the Year
Plano Fire Rescue was named 2025 EMS Provider of the Year by Texas Health Resources Plano.
The award recognizes their consistent high-level prehospital care and impact on patient outcomes. One crew from Station 10 A Shift was specifically honored for early stroke recognition and rapid transport that helped save a life.
They’re also launching a whole blood transfusion program this summer, which research shows significantly reduces mortality in trauma patients.
Quiet heroes. Fast response times. Life saving decisions.
And here we were just thinking sirens meant traffic.
🏈 Texas Tech Booster Says College Sports Rules Are “Broken”
Texas Tech football is making headlines again, but this time it’s not about touchdowns.
Cody Campbell, a major Texas Tech donor, publicly criticized the current governance structure in college athletics, saying no one currently has the authority to enforce rules consistently, particularly around NIL and the transfer portal.
He recently clashed with the Big 12 Commissioner over scheduling disputes and says the entire governance model is “completely broken and ineffective.”
Translation: College sports are in their chaotic era.
Honestly based on the last few seasons…he might not be wrong.
