The Monday Scoop for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco!

Happy Monday, neighbors! We made it through the weekend, some of us sunburned from the parade, some still recovering from cheering too loud. Between the warm November weather and Christmas lights already popping up (it’s not even Thanksgiving, y’all), Frisco’s buzzing with stories that’ll make you proud, curious, and maybe even a little inspired.

Grab your coffee, dodge that never ending 121 construction, and let’s catch up on what’s happening around town.

🤖 Frisco ISD Students Team Up with AI to Learn Math

Meet Captain Solve It, Frisco ISD’s newest math “superhero.” At Izetta Sparks Elementary, teachers and tech coaches are using AI in the classroom, but not to replace teachers, just to supercharge them.

Here’s how it works:

  • Students still learn directly from their teacher.

  • When working solo, they can ask Captain Solve It for help.

  • The AI talks just like their teacher and even reports back if a student is struggling.

Instead of giving answers, Captain Solve It helps kids think through problems, reminding them to use picture methods or break down word problems step by step. Teachers get real time feedback, and students get a confidence boost.

“It’s like when calculators first came out, it’s a tool,” said digital learning coach Brandon Hunter.

Looks like Frisco classrooms are already raising the next generation of tech savvy problem solvers.

⚖️ Frisco Woman Sentenced to 8 Years in Terrorism Related Case

In a shocking federal case, 54 year old Frisco resident Kahkashan Haider Khan was sentenced to eight years in prison after pleading guilty to lying to the FBI about her involvement in supporting terrorist activity abroad.

Court records show Khan helped recruit for the separatist group MQM, wiring funds for planned attacks in Karachi, Pakistan in 2023. She even celebrated after receiving fake photos of a firebombing that she believed had succeeded, only to later discover the images were from an older event.

When questioned by the FBI in Frisco in 2024, she denied everything before later admitting to lying under oath.

The FBI says the case is a reminder of the importance of vigilance, even in communities like ours.

💪 Outlaw FitCamp Coming to Downtown Frisco

Attention gym goers (and those still paying for memberships they don’t use): Outlaw FitCamp is bringing its high intensity training to the Rail District early next year.

  • Expert led group “FitCamps”

  • Personal training for all fitness levels

  • Custom modifications for every workout

The company, founded in 2007 by Jesse James Leyva, says the Frisco location at 7511 Main St. will open in late February or early March 2026. Whether you’re training for your next 5K or just trying to offset the Whataburger runs, this might be your new fitness spot.

🚧 Weekly Roadwork Roundup – November 17

You know it’s a Frisco newsletter when we talk traffic. Here’s what to avoid this week:

New Pavement Work:

  • 7803 Palisades Dr.

Ongoing Projects:

  • 7614 Birmingham Forest Dr.

  • Wynngate Dr. at SB Teel Pkwy (right lane closed)

  • Kings Ridge Rd. between Castle Dr. & Camelot Dr.

Expect lane closures and delays for the next two weeks (weather permitting). Pro tip: If Google Maps says “6 min slower,” assume it means “forever.”
