The Wednesday Loop for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco 🦃
It’s the day before Thanksgiving, the one day a year we all collectively pretend we know how long a turkey takes to cook, argue over who’s bringing the rolls, and realize that the grocery store is now a war zone. Whether you’re traveling, hosting, or just showing up for pie (no shame), I’m thankful you made a little room in your week for your neighborhood news.
From tornado recovery efforts near Houston to Texas’ growing data boom and a packed lineup of festive local events, there’s plenty to catch up on, and plenty to be grateful for here in our corner of North Texas.
So grab your pumpkin spice latte, take a deep breath, and let’s dig in (to the news, not the stuffing... yet).

Texas Edition
🌪️ Tornado Near Houston Damages Over 100 Homes
A tornado touched down in the Klein and Spring areas of northwest Houston on Monday, leaving behind a path of destruction and plenty of cleanup ahead.
Officials say over 100 homes were damaged.
Video from the Cypress Creek Fire Department showed the twister spinning near an H-E-B.
Residents are being urged to avoid the area due to the smell of natural gas from potential leaks.
The National Weather Service will survey the site this week to confirm the tornado’s rating, but early footage makes one thing clear, it’s been a tough season for Texas weather. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported, and neighbors are already helping each other pick up the pieces before the holiday.
Your Roof Might Be Fine… or Not

If you’ve lived in Frisco long enough, you know our weather doesn’t give your roof much grace. Hail, heavy sun, and fast-changing storms can wear down even the best homes. That’s why many Frisco homeowners lean on C2 Roofing, a local team known for being straightforward, reliable, and obsessed with doing the job the right way the first time.
C2 isn’t a door knocker crew or a “storm chaser.” They’re Frisco based professionals who built their reputation on craftsmanship, clear communication, and showing up when they say they will. Homeowners trust them because they’d rather educate you than pressure you. And if your roof is perfectly fine, they’ll tell you that too.
Right now, C2 Roofing is offering a complimentary roof inspection, a simple way to get peace of mind before the next round of Texas weather shows up. No push. No hassle. Just a quick check from a team that takes pride in protecting Frisco homes.

🏕️ Texas Summer Camps Prepare for a Mental Health Crisis
After the July 4 floods that tragically killed 137 people, including campers and counselors, Texas summer camps are now bracing for a different kind of recovery: mental health.
While the state has introduced new emergency weather plans and alert systems for youth camps, experts say emotional wellness is being left behind. Many kids returning next summer are still coping with trauma, sleepless nights, and fear of storms.
Programs like CampWell, which trains staff in emotional regulation and trauma response, are now being adopted at camps statewide. One camp director put it best:
“The same way we require lifeguard training, we should require mental health training.”
It’s a reminder that safety isn’t just about sirens and shelters, it’s about hearts and minds, too.
💻 $10 Billion Data Center Project Proposed for Waco
If Google’s data centers weren’t big enough news, Texas just got another tech titan. A startup called Infrakey plans to build a $10 billion data center campus near Waco, complete with a 1.2-gigawatt gas plant that could power 300,000 homes.
The Lacy Lakeview Data District would be the largest single industrial investment in McLennan County history, turning farmland into a high tech hub.
Pros: Thousands of jobs and a booming tax base.
Cons: Locals fear water shortages, air pollution, and losing their rural lifestyle.
City officials are calling it a “paradigm-changer.” Residents, on the other hand, are wondering if that paradigm comes with 24/7 generator noise.
