The Friday Recap for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco!
It’s Friday again, and you survived another week of stop and go traffic on El Dorado, questionable weather forecasts, and the eternal struggle of finding a parking spot at Stonebriar. As always, I’ve rounded up the local headlines, the weekend’s can’t miss events, and a look at the weather so you know whether to bring a water bottle or an umbrella (spoiler: water bottle).
Let’s dig in.

Teen Stabbed While Walking Dog in Frisco Neighborhood
Frisco’s reputation as “safest city in America” took a gut punch this week when 15 year old Ankur Dhar was randomly stabbed while walking his husky, Ruffles, just two houses down from his Grayhawk home.
Location: Plum Valley Lane, Grayhawk neighborhood
Time: Around 8:40 PM, Sunday night
Victim: 15-year-old Ankur Dhar (now recovering with 19 stitches)
Hero sidekick: His dog, Ruffles
Status: Suspect still at large, described as an older teen
Ring footage shows the attacker lurking moments before the incident. Ankur says the suspect tried to make small talk, claimed to go to Lone Star High School, then suddenly stabbed him with what’s believed to be a pocketknife.
The Dhar family is understandably shaken, and neighbors have been rattled too. Frisco PD had K-9 units, a drone, and even a helicopter in the area that night, but as of today, the suspect hasn’t been caught.
For a community ranked safest in America two years running, this one hits hard. Residents are calling for answers, and police say the investigation is still ongoing.
Frisco Resident Wins $5M on Scratch Off Lottery Ticket
One lucky neighbor is $5 million richer after buying a “5 Million Royale” scratch off ticket at the RaceTrac on El Dorado.
Ticket price: $50
Jackpot: $5 million
Winner: Staying anonymous (probably wisely, given how many “friends” would suddenly text back)
Note: This is not financial advice…or gambling advice. Buying scratch offs is still not a retirement plan, unless your retirement dream is collecting losing tickets.
$157M Dallas North Tollway Project Nears Completion
If you’ve been wondering why your commute down the Dallas North Tollway feels like a high stakes video game, it’s because the $157.3 million widening project is nearly finished.
🛣️ Adds one new lane in each direction between SH 121 & US 380
👷 Expected completion: Late 2025 (the fourth lane could open this fall)
Includes: New DNT bridges over Fields Parkway, better access to Fields West & Firefly Park
Mayor Cheney says this project is what made major developments like Fields West possible. Translation: your current suffering in construction traffic is “for the greater good.” Hang in there, guys.
