The Monday Scoop for Frisco
Howdy, Frisco.
Happy Monday! We hope everyone had a great weekend and got enough sleep! Today’s edition is filled with some exciting events, a hometown teen chasing country stardom, FISD earning top marks, and (of course) more roadwork than any of us asked for. Let’s get into it.

🎸 Frisco Teen Balances High School & Country Music Stardom
At just 17, Tristan Roberson of Frisco is proving you can ace senior year and climb the country charts at the same time.
He started out by posting TikToks, then released his first original song The Reaper Keeps Creepin’ at 15.
His single Somewhere in Texas hit No. 1 on the Texas Regional Radio Chart.
Four nominations at the 2025 Josie Music Awards + finalist for Emerging Artist of the Year at the Texas Country Music Awards.
Over 8.3 million streams across platforms.
This year? He’ll be juggling touring across Texas and Arkansas while still attending high school.
His influences range from George Strait to Alan Jackson, and while his career is taking off, Tristan says he’s staying focused on telling authentic country stories.
Rail District Businesses Still Struggling Amid $70M Construction
We’ve covered this before, but the disruption downtown is really hitting home for small businesses. Here’s the latest:
Dad Jokes Cheesyburger lost both entrances to road closures. Business down 50%.
Soccer City reports sales dropped more than $500,000 in 2024 alone.
Randy’s Steakhouse faced payroll challenges after decades in business.
The city says it’s working on signage and visibility to help. Mayor Jeff Cheney emphasized the project’s long-term goal: finishing by January 2026, ahead of the World Cup, to bring global eyes and feet, to the Rail District.
Frisco ISD Earns “A” Rating from TEA
Frisco ISD just became the largest district in Texas to score an A rating in the Texas Education Agency’s 2024–25 accountability system.
The number of A-rated campuses in FISD also grew from the previous year.
Ratings measure student achievement, growth, and closing achievement gaps among student groups.
Superintendent Mike Waldrip called the rating a continued success, while noting the district’s local accountability system gives a fuller picture of student performance beyond the state’s grades.
