The Wednesday Loop for Frisco
Howdy, Frisco.
Can we all agree that this weather has actually been...pretty nice lately?
Sure, we're still in Texas, and stepping into your car at 3 PM feels like opening an air fryer full of regret. But compared to the triple digit furnace that usually arrives by now, I'll take these low 90s and evening breezes all day long.
We've got school test results, summer events popping up everywhere, and enough live music this week to make your Spotify playlist jealous.
Let's get into it.

Texas Edition
π Texas Students Show Math Gains, Reading Holds Steady on STAAR Exams
The latest STAAR results are in, and the report card is basically:
Math: Getting better
Reading: Kinda stuck
Parents: Still confused by STAAR scores
Texas elementary and middle school students showed slight gains in math and social studies this year, while reading scores mostly remained unchanged.
Some highlights:
Math scores improved in most grade levels
Reading scores remained mostly flat
High school students saw gains in every tested area
59% of eighth graders met reading expectations, up from 56% last year
Education officials say progress is encouraging, but there's still work to do.
The bigger news?
STAAR's days are numbered.
Texas plans to replace STAAR beginning in the 2027-28 school year with three shorter assessments spread throughout the year instead of one giant stress inducing testing season.
Translation:
Students may soon have fewer weeks of hearing teachers say:
"Remember, this will be on the test."
Your Gutters Will Thank You
Frisco gets over 40 inches of rain a year. Every drop that can't drain sits against your fascia, seeps under your shingles, and works its way toward your foundation.
Foundation repair in Texas runs $5,000β$15,000. A gutter cleaning costs a fraction of that, and it's the one service that makes the repair unnecessary in the first place.
We're C2 Roofing, a local Frisco company. We keep our calendar intentionally small so every job gets done right, not just done fast. Dozens of your neighbors have already scheduled, and most of them said the same thing afterward: they wished they hadn't waited.
No hidden fees. No pressure. Just clean gutters and the confidence that your home is ready for whatever comes next.
Certified, local, and ready to get up there so you don't have to. Takes about 4 seconds to get started.

ποΈ Texas Voucher Program Launches, But Questions Remain
Texas' new school voucher program is officially underway, and it's already generating a lot of conversation among parents and educators.
The program will provide state funded education accounts that families can use toward:
Private school tuition
Educational materials
Lessons and extracurricular programs
Technology expenses
The program launches with approximately $1 billion in funding.
However, early data shows many of the approved recipients were already attending private schools rather than transferring from public schools.
Supporters say it expands educational choice.
Critics argue it could divert resources away from public schools.
One thing everyone seems to agree on?
Parents now have one more thing to research at 11:30 PM after spending two hours helping with math homework.
π Texas Flooding Update: Wingstop Employee's Car Refuses To Quit
In perhaps the most Texas story of the week...
A Wingstop employee in Waco watched her car literally float away during historic flash flooding.
And somehow...
It still works.
Video showed the vehicle submerged in floodwaters and even floating through a parking lot Sunday night. Yet by Monday morning, the owner was driving it back to work.
Current damage report:
Engine works
Drives normally
Still gets you to work
Floorboards are basically a kiddie pool
Honestly, somebody at Toyota, Honda, Ford, or whoever made that thing deserves a raise.
