The Monday Scoop for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco!
Happy Monday, y’all! Hope you made it through the weekend without throwing your Wi-Fi router out the window or spending your entire paycheck on pumpkins at Trader Joe’s. If you’re still wondering whether or not to bring the pumpkins out, consider this your sign. Let’s dig into what’s happening around town.

📡 Spectrum Outage Hits North Texas
Spectrum customers across Dallas, Plano, and Frisco reported massive internet and phone outages Friday, leaving many folks scrambling for hotspots (and realizing how quiet life is without Netflix).
Peak outage: Around 2:45 PM Friday
Impact: Dallas, Plano, Frisco, plus reports in Missouri, Maine & Montana
Issues: “Total blackout,” “signal loss,” Spectrum app errors
Frustrations: Even Spectrum Mobile users said data went dark
Spectrum later confirmed the outage, saying teams were working “as quickly as possible” to restore service. By Friday evening, some connectivity was back, but many reported spotty signals well into the weekend. It was a tough reminder that in 2025, losing Wi-Fi feels like losing electricity, only with more yelling at Alexa.
🚶 Frisco Moves Toward Limiting Car-Centric Businesses Downtown
Frisco’s Planning and Zoning Commission voted to recommend tighter rules on downtown businesses, aiming to make the area more pedestrian-friendly and aligned with the city’s long-term vision.
❌ New bans (if approved): Drive-thrus, gas stations, laundromats, full-service car washes
🏬 Still allowed: Restaurants, banks, child care, but without drive-thrus
📖 Goal: Align downtown with Frisco’s 2040 Comprehensive Plan
🗓 Next step: City Council vote on Oct. 7
The proposal has sparked debate among residents and business owners, but officials stress current businesses won’t be forced to close, they’ll just face restrictions if shuttered for more than six months. The city says the move is about making downtown a place to stroll, dine, and gather, not just another pit stop for fast food and fuel. If passed, downtown Frisco could feel a little less like “suburban shortcut” and a lot more like a community hub.
🍻 Rollertown Beerworks Opening in Frisco
Good news for beer lovers and live music fans: Rollertown Beerworks is opening its newest location in Frisco this October, bringing both brews and big-event energy.
Address: 6450 Main St., Frisco
Grand opening: Oct. 22
Venue: 30,000 square foot event lawn + two-story taproom + stage
Menu: Beer, cocktails, wine, and mocktails
Known for creating a space that’s equal parts family hangout and nightlife spot, the new Rollertown will also welcome dogs and include a large outdoor patio. Owners say the Frisco location was designed to feel more like a community gathering spot.
💎 Local 8 Year Old Makes Jewelry to Save for a Dog
Meet Kruthi, Frisco’s youngest entrepreneur with a big dream. At just 8 years old, she started making earrings, pendants, bookmarks, and keychains, all with the goal of saving up for her very own golden retriever.
🐾 Origin story: Inspired by polymer clay jewelry and her love of turquoise jade
🎨 Style: Nature, ocean, and bright, happy colors
💝 Impact: Donates 10% of sales to orphanages and autism awareness
🐶 Goal: To prove “even the smallest hands can shape a brighter world”
Kruthi says she’s motivated by both her love of dogs and her belief that small acts can make a big difference. Every purchase helps her get closer to puppy ownership while also spreading kindness through donations. It’s hard not to root for her, after all, who among us didn’t dream of saving up for a pet when we were kids? The difference is, Kruthi’s actually doing it.
