The Wednesday Loop for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco.
Happy Wednesday, y’all!
I don’t know about you, but I’m eyeing this weekend’s forecast like it’s a villain in a Hallmark movie. Snow. Ice. Freezing temps. The kind of winter chaos that makes Texans collectively forget how to drive and H-E-B sell out of eggs, milk, and 37 different brands of bread.
I’m calling it now, I have a feeling it’s really gonna snow on Saturday… so I’m canceling all my plans, grabbing a blanket, and preparing to survive on hot chocolate and Wi-Fi.
Before the storm rolls in, though, Frisco’s been busy.
Let’s jump into this week’s headlines, events, and your intereting forecast.

✊ Frisco Honors MLK’s Legacy with Unity, Jazz, and Service
Frisco came together Monday to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with its fourth annual Unity Day, a heartfelt mix of jazz, speeches, and community service that captured MLK’s spirit of togetherness.
The event kicked off with the UNT Jazz Trio, setting a warm tone despite the winter chill.
The Friendship Baptist Church Unified Choir delivered a stunning gospel performance that earned a standing ovation, while emcee Peter Burns kept spirits high throughout. Guests were also encouraged to bring canned food for Frisco Family Services, reminding everyone that honoring Dr. King means serving others, not just celebrating him.
For your back pain, knee pain, or other pain…
If your knees have been acting weird lately… like sore getting out of the car, stiff on stairs, or just not moving how they used to… you’re not alone.
That stuff usually doesn’t start in the knee. It often comes from your back, hips, or how your body moves as a whole.
That’s what the team at Core Strength Wellness looks at. They’re a local chiropractor here in Frisco, and their whole thing is helping people move better and hurt less. Knees, backs, hips, necks… even those random aches you’ve just learned to live with.
They start with a no-cost consultation. No pressure. No rush. Just a real look at what’s going on and whether they can help.
If you’ve been saying “I should probably get this checked out” for a while… this is your sign.
You can book the no cost consult with Core Strength Wellness and at least get some answers.
Your knees will probably thank you later.
⚖️ Ken Paxton Uses MLK Day to Attack John Cornyn Ahead of GOP Primary
Because Texas politics never takes a day off, even on MLK Day. Attorney General Ken Paxton released a sweeping legal opinion calling decades of state diversity and inclusion initiatives “unconstitutional.”
The timing was no coincidence. His statement also took direct aim at U.S. Senator John Cornyn, his opponent in the upcoming Republican primary, claiming Cornyn’s past opinions as AG supported “discriminatory frameworks.”
Cornyn fired back on social media, calling Paxton’s move “an illegal, in kind campaign contribution” to himself and a “waste of taxpayer dollars.” Legal experts agree the opinion has no binding power, but it’s already stirring confusion among state agencies and private companies.
So yes, we celebrated MLK Day with jazz, charity, and….a political knife fight.
⚡ ERCOT Says Texas Grid “Ready” for Winter…We’ll See
With Arctic air on the way, all eyes are on ERCOT again. The agency insists it’s “ready for winter,” citing weatherization upgrades, extra fuel sources, and improved coordination with emergency services.
If that gives you déjà vu….you’re not alone. Texans still remember the 2021 grid collapse that left millions freezing in the dark.
This time, ERCOT says its reserves can handle the cold, and maintenance work has made the system sturdier. Still, with temps expected to dip below freezing for 60 straight hours, many are keeping their flashlights handy, just in case.
🤖 Texas Set to Become America’s Data Center Capital
AI isn’t just changing your social feeds, it’s reshaping Texas’ power demand. A new report predicts that by 2028, Texas will host the most data centers in the nation, surpassing California.
The state’s cheap land, abundant natural gas, and relaxed energy regulations have companies like OpenAI and Bloom Energy expanding fast. But all that digital growth comes at a cost. By 2030, these facilities could consume enough power to light up millions of homes, right when our grid’s already under pressure.
In other words, the robots are coming…and they’re gonna need a lot of electricity.

FRISCO RIDDLE OF THE WEEK
What event featuring Texas Rangers players was scheduled to return to Frisco in January?
A) Rangers Spring Training Game
B) Winter Caravan
C) Midnight Baseball Bash
D) Rangers All-Star Fan Fest
Answer: At the bottom.

Wed (Jan 21) – AM Clouds / PM Sun | 61° / 36°
Thu (Jan 22) – Mostly Cloudy | 59° / 43°
Fri (Jan 23) – Rain | 46° / 19°
Sat (Jan 24) – Snow to Wintry Mix | 23° / 9°
Translation: A mild start to the week, but by Friday, all bets are off. Expect rain, then freezing temps, then snow. So maybe skip the errands, stock up on cocoa, and practice saying, “We’re staying in tonight.”
That’s it for this week, Frisco.
If the roads freeze over, you’ll find me wrapped in a blanket burrito, binge-watching something I’ll forget by Sunday. Stay warm, stay safe, and check on your neighbors (especially the ones who still think they can drive on black ice).
See y’all Friday!
