Frisco Insider - Smoke Shops + Housing Stats+ More

The Monday Scoop for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco.

Hope y’all had an amazing Halloween weekend, and that your kids didn’t trade all their Reese’s for Smarties. Between spooky movie nights, candy comas, and this wild flip flop weather (is it sweater season or shorts season??), it’s been a ride.

But now it’s Monday, and we’re diving into a fresh week with sunshine, local happenings, and a few updates you’ll want to know about around town. Let’s get into it.

🏪 Frisco Officials Eye New Distance Rules for Smoke Shops

City Council is looking to regulate how close smoke shops can be to homes, schools, churches, and each other.

  • Proposed rule: 1,000 feet of separation between smoke shops and sensitive areas

  • Impact: About 31 of Frisco’s 41 smoke shops would be considered “non-compliant” under new zoning

  • Next steps: If approved, the change would go to the Planning & Zoning Commission before final City Council approval in early 2026

Officials say this is part of an effort to prevent clusters of smoke shops across town. Existing shops could stay open, but if they shut down for six months or more, they’d lose their right to operate.

Council member Laura Rummel summed it up: “There’s a lot of them right across the street from each other.”

🏡 187 Homes Sold in Frisco, Market Still Buzzing

Frisco’s housing market is showing steady activity. From September 2024 to September 2025:

  • 187 homes sold citywide

  • Median sale price: Up slightly from last year

  • Top ZIP: 75035 led in number of sales

  • Average time on market: 38 days

Realtors say homes under $700K are moving fastest, while luxury properties are seeing longer wait times. With the holidays coming up, listings usually slow down, but Frisco’s year-round demand keeps things competitive.

🏈 Reedy Rolls Over Frisco, Sets Up Showdown With Lone Star

The Reedy Lions are roaring into playoff season after a commanding 40–21 win over Frisco Friday night.

  • Now 6-1 in district play

  • Next up: Lone Star, Thursday @ Ford Center, for a shot at the district title

  • Star of the game: WR Ben Francis with 152 yards & 3 TDs….with a cast on his hand.

Head Coach Chad Cole called it “rivalry football at its best.” If Reedy beats Lone Star by 25 points or more, they could take the top seed. Expect packed stands and playoff level energy Thursday night.
