The Monday Scoop for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco!
Happy Monday, y’all! If you spent your weekend dodging roadwork cones, wondering where your favorite salad spot disappeared to, or practicing your roundabout driving skills like it’s Mario Kart, you’re not alone. Grab that first coffee of the week and let’s cruise through your local headlines, events, and weather.

Roundabouts Steer Frisco Toward Safer Streets 🔄
Frisco now tops Texas cities with 72 roundabouts, and several more on the way.
📍 New builds planned: 4 along Frisco Street + 1 at Gaylord Pkwy & Ohio Dr.
🚦 Why it matters: Roundabouts cut down on conflict points and reduce speeds to ~15–20 mph
Bonus: They also improve pedestrian and cyclist safety
The city even hosted a public education event last week to help drivers learn how to properly use them (spoiler: you don’t stop in the middle and panic). With traffic volume only going up, these circular intersections may be the unsung heroes keeping Frisco flowing.
Man Shot by Frisco Police After Knife Threat 🚔
A 31 year old man, Logan Holliday, was killed Thursday after advancing toward officers with a knife near Frisco Commons Park.
📍 Location: 8000 block of McKinney Rd.
🕘 Call: Welfare check around 9:50 AM
🛑 Police say: Non-lethal force was attempted but failed before shots were fired
🏥 Aftermath: Holliday was taken to the hospital but later died
He was taken to the hospital but later died, and the Texas Rangers are leading the investigation. The incident has sparked conversations in the community about mental health resources and police response in high stakes situations.
Salad and Go Closes 41 Stores, Including Frisco 🥗
Bad news for quick-lunch fans: Salad and Go shut down multiple North Texas spots, including the one at 355 Lebanon Rd. in Frisco.
📉 Total closures: 41 across Texas & Oklahoma
🥗 Menu: Salads, wraps, soups, gone in mid-September
📍 Local hits: Frisco, Prosper, Plano, Flower Mound, Fort Worth
While closures sting, leadership insists it’s a long-term move to stay competitive and expand in stronger markets like Phoenix and Las Vegas. Still, many locals who relied on the chain for quick, affordable healthy meals are bummed to lose the drive thru option.
Weekly Roadwork Roundup 🛑
Construction season continues (does it ever end?). This week, keep your eyes peeled for:
New Pavement Work: 3841 Plantation Ln. & 6697 Waterbury Dr.
Ongoing Pavement: 6367 Stallion Ranch Rd. & Speargrass Dr. (Dutch Hollow → Bedstraw)
Utility + Pavement: Kings Ridge Rd. (Castle Dr. → Camelot Dr.)
Plan on detours, and maybe leave five minutes early if you’re headed near these neighborhoods.
