The Wednesday Loop for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco!
Happy Wednesday, neighbors! We’re smack dab in the middle of September, which means it’s that strange Texas season where mornings whisper “fall sweater” and afternoons yell “nope, still August.” Pumpkin spice is out in full force, traffic is already revving up for football weekends, and the cicadas? Still holding their nightly concerts.
But hey, you’ve made it to midweek! Time for your state news fix, events lineup, and weather forecast that may or may not play nice with your weekend plans. Let’s dive in.
Texas News Roundup 📰
New Parental Consent Law Leaves School Nurses in Limbo 🩹
A brand new law requires schools to get parental consent before providing any healthcare services to students. Sounds simple, right? Well, not so much.
Nurses worry they could get in trouble for handing out Band-Aids or ice packs without written approval.
Some districts say “first aid is fine,” others say “not unless it’s life or death.”
Lawmakers say districts should use “common sense.” Nurses say, “what about our licenses?”
The result? Parents are frustrated by the mixed messages, nurses feel like they’re walking on eggshells, and kids just want their scraped knees patched up without drama. Until the state steps in with clearer rules, expect more confusion in the nurse’s office than in algebra class.
180 Teachers Under Investigation Over Charlie Kirk Comments
After conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s death, the Texas Education Agency says nearly 180 complaints have been filed against teachers for allegedly posting inappropriate comments online.
Some staff have already been fired or placed on leave.
State leaders say they’ll suspend licenses if teachers “incite violence.”
Critics say it’s a free speech issue and accuse lawmakers of “weaponizing their platforms.”
The investigations highlight growing tension between political leaders and public educators, with some districts quick to act and others holding back.
IShowSpeed Causes Chaos in Fort Worth 🤯
If you saw a cowboy hat wearing YouTuber mobbed by screaming fans at the Stockyards this week, you’re not hallucinating. Global streamer IShowSpeed stopped in North Texas as part of his 35 day live-stream tour, and the scene was wild.
Fans packed the streets for a glimpse.
He popped up at Whataburger (because Texas).
Even swung by SMU’s campus, where students went nuts.
The 19 year old has more than 40 million followers, and judging by the turnout, half of them might live in DFW. For parents wondering what all the fuss is about: imagine Beatlemania, but instead of guitars it’s livestream stunts, soccer fandom, and a kid yelling “SUIII” into a webcam.

🎈 Plano Balloon Festival – Sept 18–21 @ Oak Point Park
Hot air balloons, funnel cakes, live music, fireworks, this one’s a local favorite. The real showstopper? The balloon glow at dusk, when dozens of balloons light up the night sky. There’s also tethered rides, a kids’ fun zone, and BMW test drives if floating isn’t your thing. Pro tip: go early for parking and grab a funnel cake before the lines stretch halfway to Allen.
