Frisco Insider - School Changes + Lights + More

The Friday Recap for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco.

Happy Friday. Hope y’all have dried off from yesterday’s downpour, the kind of Texas rain that starts as a drizzle, turns into a monsoon, and then disappears five minutes later like it never happened. Now that the sun’s peeking back out, we’ve got a jam packed weekend ahead filled with twinkling lights, tree lightings, Cowboys cheer, and the official start of Christmas season in Frisco.

So grab your cocoa, your comfiest hoodie, and maybe a backup umbrella (just in case), here’s everything that’s been going on.

🎓 Frisco ISD Changes 2027 School Calendar for PGA Championship

If you’ve ever spent 45 minutes in a Frisco carpool line, just imagine trying that with 30,000 golf fans in town.

Frisco ISD is tweaking the 2026–27 academic calendar to avoid the PGA Championship traffic chaos. Students will now finish the school year one week early, on May 14, 2027, to keep things safe and smooth while Frisco hosts one of the city’s biggest sporting events ever.

Key Changes:

  • First Day: August 12, 2026

  • Last Day: May 14, 2027

  • Bad Weather Make-Up Days: March 26 & April 16, 2027

  • School Days Extended by 5 Minutes (yep, every day)

That means:

  • Elementary: 7:45 AM – 3:10 PM

  • Middle: 8:25 AM – 3:50 PM

  • High: 9 AM – 4:30 PM

The district says this change not only meets state instructional minute requirements but also sets them up for future testing changes. Translation: a few extra minutes of school, but one less week of traffic chaos. We’ll take that trade.

Here’s the lineup:

  • Jurassic World Adventure Camp: Search for baby dinos on coasters and play zones.

  • SpongeBob’s Bikini Bottom: Ride jellyfish, tour with Patrick, and eat at Goofy Goober’s.

  • Shrek’s Swamp: Splash zones, Shrek sized snacks, and ogre approved fun.

  • Minions’ Bello Bay Club: A full blown water fight between yellow and purple Minions.

  • TrollsFest: Glitter, dancing, and the Troll-ify Me, makeover experience.

  • Puss in Boots’ Del Mar: Swings, snacks, and swordplay for little heroes.

Frisco, get ready, this is about to be the family destination of 2026….and also the reason why Preston will be packed soon.

🥖 Bread Zeppelin to Land in Frisco

Forget subs and wraps, Bread Zeppelin is bringing its salads in baguettes concept to 4331 Main St. soon, and it’s exactly as good as it sounds.

Here’s the breakdown:

  • Your salad goes inside a toasted artisan baguette.

  • Every bite = crunch + freshness.

  • Menu favorites include Caesar, Buffalo Chicken, and Southwest salads.

They’ll also serve soups, desserts, and chips, but let’s be honest, it’s the “chopped salad stuffed in bread” that’s going to break Frisco lunch lines in half. Opening date TBD, but the hype’s already here.
