Frisco Insider - Scam Case + Restaurant Inspections

The Monday Scoop for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco.

Happy Monday! You made it through another weekend of trying to explain to out of town guests what “The Star” actually is, and dodging construction cones like it’s Mario Kart. I’ve got your latest headlines, a week full of local happenings, and a weather check so you know whether to pack sunscreen or an umbrella (spoiler: probably both).

Frisco Woman Posed as FBI Agent in $25K Scam

A 22 year old Frisco woman is accused of pulling off a scam straight out of a crime drama.

👩 Suspect: Jessica Bahu, 22, of Frisco
🎭 The act: Pretended to be an FBI agent
💰 Damage: $25,000 stolen from an elderly couple’s life savings
📍 Where: Garland, after luring victims to a Chase Bank and parking lot meetup

Bahu allegedly convinced an 80 year old man and his 77 year old wife to withdraw cash after fake calls from “the bank” and “the FBI.” She then showed up in person to collect, posing as an agent. Garland PD called the whole thing especially alarming since the couple met her face to face.

She’s been arrested and released on bond, with possible federal charges pending. Friendly reminder, The FBI does not meet you in random parking lots for cash pick ups.

Frisco Restaurant Inspections: Expired Permits, Gnats & a Roach

The latest round of food inspections brought some eyebrow raisers:

Southwest Farmers Market – Score: 28
• No certified food manager on site
• Unsafe rice storage temps

🥖 La Parisienne – Score: 25
• Expired permit (since February!)
• Organic matter in the ice machine
• Several gnats buzzing around

🍜 Texas Pho House – Score: 23
• Bean sprouts left at room temp
• Organic matter in the ice machine
• One live roach near the water heater

On the bright side, more than 50 spots scored a perfect zero.

Frisco Gets $586K Grant to Combat Vehicle Crimes

Good news for your catalytic converters: Frisco just landed $586,393 in state funding (plus a 20% city match) to fight motor vehicle crimes.

What it means:
🔹 102 new license plate readers across the city
🔹 More tech for crime analysts and detectives
🔹 Goal: Detect, deter, and prevent vehicle thefts

Vehicle thefts peaked in 2023 with 223 cases, but dropped to 164 in 2024. This grant aims to push that number even lower.
