It is officially that weird time of year where it’s technically still spring…but also feels like someone turned the “Texas Summer” dial to 8. The pool water is warming up, the AC is humming non stop, and walking from your car into H-E-B feels like a competitive sport.

🚧 Frisco Gets $329K for Dallas Parkway Widening

More lanes are coming. Because apparently we’re all trying to be on Dallas Parkway at the same time.

Frisco City Council unanimously approved an agreement with Collin County that will provide $329,523 toward Phase 5 of the Dallas Parkway widening project.

The funding is being redirected from unused Lebanon Road widening funds, so it’s basically found money (we love that).

What’s happening in this phase:
• Additional lanes on northbound & southbound frontage roads
• Intersection improvements between PGA Parkway and south of Panther Creek Parkway
• Capacity upgrades at major intersections including Lebanon, Stonebrook, Main, Eldorado, and Panther Creek

Total project cost is about $18.39 million.

The county contribution allows the city to reduce how much it pulls from general obligation bonds, aka less strain on local funding sources.

Translation: traffic may still be annoying, but at least it’s being addressed.

💣 “Why Are There Bombs in a Park?”, Pipe Bomb Found at Lewisville Lake

A metal detector hobbyist was wading waist deep in Lewisville Lake when his detector hit a strong signal.

He scooped it up…and realized he was holding a pipe bomb.

Yes. A pipe bomb.

He brought it to shore, called authorities, and the Denton bomb squad detonated the device. Police say similar devices have been used illegally to kill fish (which is both dangerous and illegal).

The hobbyist described it as one of the top three scariest moments of his life.

Reminder: treasure hunting should lead to coins, not explosives.

🚨 SWAT Standoff in Plano

Plano police arrested one person early Monday morning following a standoff with SWAT.

Officers responded around 1 a.m. to an assault call. The victim reportedly told police her husband had threatened her with a firearm after assaulting her.

She and one of her sons were able to escape safely. SWAT was called after attempts to contact the suspect failed.

The suspect exited the home just after 5 a.m. and was taken into custody. No names have been released.

Voters across Texas are participating in closely watched attorney general primary runoff elections.

Republicans: Congressman Chip Roy vs. State Sen. Mayes Middleton
Democrats: State Sen. Nathan Johnson vs. Joe Jaworski

The winners will move on to the November general election.
