The Monday Scoop for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco!

Happy Monday, y’all, and welcome to the “back to work, but still pretending it’s the weekend” edition of Frisco Insider. Whether you spent Sunday catching up on rest, catching football, or catching your dog running out the front door (again), let’s ease into the week together. We’ve got local wins (literally), a tragic but important update, some city tech upgrades, and a few events that might just make you forget it’s only Monday. Also reply to this email and let me know y’alls thoughts on this redesign!

🏈 Frisco Wakeland Dominates Frisco Heritage 45–0

Friday night lights turned into Friday night highlights for the Wakeland Wolverines, who absolutely rolled over Frisco Heritage at David Kuykendall Stadium.

  • QB Jayden Maples was on fire, 242 passing yards, three touchdowns, and the kind of accuracy you only get after years of throwing rolled-up homework into a trash can.

  • Grayson Myer stole the show with 135 receiving yards and three total touchdowns. His 40-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter was the cherry on top.

  • The Wakeland defense held Heritage to just 2.8 yards per play and snagged two interceptions before halftime.

  • Final score: 45–0. That’s not just a win, that’s a statement.

The Wolverines move to 7–0 on the season, keeping their perfect record intact. Heritage, meanwhile, will look to regroup after a tough night.

🚔 Road Rage Turns Deadly at Frisco High School

A tragic incident unfolded Thursday night in the Frisco High School parking lot after a road rage confrontation escalated into a fatal shooting.

  • The victim, Robert Taylor (34) of Plano, was shot and killed after allegedly confronting Jason Bartik (45) of Celina over brake checking on the highway.

  • According to police, Bartik called 911 afterward, claiming he acted in self defense after being punched through his car window.

  • Taylor was transported to the hospital but was later pronounced dead.

  • Bartik remains in Collin County Jail on a $750,000 bond, charged with murder.

Police continue to investigate the incident. It’s a sobering reminder of how quickly anger behind the wheel can turn tragic, take a deep breath next time someone cuts you off, Frisco.

🎥 Frisco Expands License Plate Camera Network

Smile, Frisco, your car might soon be on candid camera (but for safety reasons, not speeding tickets).

  • City Council just approved an agreement with TxDOT to install additional license plate cameras at key intersections like US 380 and Preston Road.

  • The project is grant funded, meaning no cost to the city.

  • The system, powered by Flock Safety, captures license plates and vehicle details (but not faces or speeding data).

  • Data is stored for 30 days and is used by police to prevent and investigate crimes.

Think of it less as “Big Brother” and more as “Neighborhood Watch 2.0.”
