The Friday Recap for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco!

It’s Friday again, which means your coffee is pulling double duty and your to-do list is staring back at you like an unpaid HOA fee. But hey, the weekend is basically here! The pumpkins are out, the mornings are cooler (ish), and the Frisco calendar is stuffed fuller than a State Fair corndog. Let’s get you caught up before you accidentally spend $300 at Spirit Halloween.

💰 Frisco Proposes $500K Boost for Rail District Businesses

Downtown construction is no joke, storefronts have been wrapped in cones, barriers, and bulldozers for over a year, and now the city is looking to step in with financial help.

📍 Plan: City Manager Wes Pierson will ask for $500,000 from the Community Development Corporation.
🤝 Goal: Support businesses hit hard by ongoing redevelopment in the Rail District.
🛠 Project Cost: Over $80 million redevelopment, including new streets, plaza, parking, and grants.
🗓 Timeline: Main Street work to finish late 2025; sidewalks and landscaping in Jan. 2026.

City staff will meet with business owners in the coming weeks to gather ideas on how to put that half a million dollars to work, whether it’s through events, marketing, or creative incentives to bring folks downtown while construction continues. Council is expected to review the plan on Oct. 7, meaning relief could arrive sooner rather than later.

🛒 New Walmart Supercenter Opens in Frisco

Frisco just got another one of Texas’ favorite pastimes: a brand-new Walmart Supercenter, complete with ribbon-cutting scissors that could rival Excalibur.

  • Location: 16600 FM 423 at Hwy. 380

  • Opening was on Oct. 1 with a grand ceremony, complete with an ice carved cowboy boot

  • Features: Expanded grocery, pharmacy, home goods, and tech aisles

Shoppers were greeted with a true “big Texas welcome”, a giant ice sculpture boot and plenty of freebies to celebrate. Beyond the party, this Walmart brings fresh competition and another one stop shop to the booming FM 423 corridor. Expect packed parking lots as folks check out the new digs this week.

🍗 KFC “Saucy” Concept Coming to Frisco

Get ready for a finger-lickin’ twist, KFC is testing a new concept called Saucy, and Frisco’s on the list.

📍 Planned Spot: 380 University Drive, Frisco
🍴 Menu: Chicken tenders + 11 different dipping sauces
🏗 Size & Cost: 3,900 square feet | $3.5 million build
🗓 Expected Completion: Jan. 2026

The brand already has a test location in Florida, but this will be one of the first in Texas. Think of it like a sauce lover’s dream, from sweet and smoky to bold and spicy, dipping will be the main event. Construction crews are already slated to start, meaning Frisco foodies may be just months away from their newest guilty pleasure.

🎾 8 Frisco ISD Tennis Teams Headed to Playoffs
