The Monday Scoop for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco.
Alright, I’ll admit it, the events list today is a little light. Don’t blame me though…It’s that weird mid January lull when everyone’s still recovering from holidays, resolutions are wobbling, and Frisco seems collectively too tired to host anything wild. But hey, I’ve still got a few gems to keep you busy until Wednesday.
Meanwhile, there’s PLENTY brewing in the news, from massive retail coming to Fields West, to a local couple convicted of running a pyramid scheme, to Comerica layoffs at The Star. And, of course, more construction (because this is still Frisco). Let’s get into it.

💰 Frisco Couple Convicted in $25 Million ‘Blessings in No Time’ Pyramid Scheme
A Frisco couple, LaShonda and Marlon Moore, have been convicted of running a massive pyramid scheme that defrauded thousands of Americans during the pandemic.
The scheme, called “Blessings in No Time” (BINT), lured people in with promises of 800% returns on “community blessings”, and shocker, those blessings didn’t exactly make it to everyone.
Over 10,000 victims lost a combined $25 million.
The Moores were convicted on multiple counts of wire fraud and money laundering, each carrying up to 20 years in prison.
The couple used livestreams and social media to recruit participants during lockdowns.
So yeah… turns out not all “financial blessings” come from God, some come from very creative sales pitches.
🏙️ Here’s a Look at the New Retail Coming to Frisco’s Fields West
Big things are rising along the Dallas North Tollway, literally. The long awaited Fields West development just went vertical last month, marking another major step for Frisco’s skyline.
The 55-acre mixed-use village by the Karahan Companies (aka the folks behind Legacy West) will feature high end shopping, dining, offices, and housing, basically Legacy West’s younger, trendier sibling.
Coming soon:
Crate & Barrel and Design Within Reach (for those who treat furniture like art)
Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma, and Arhaus for your HGTV dreams
Bloomie’s (Bloomingdale’s mini format) bringing big name designer brands
Alo Yoga, Kendra Scott, TravisMathew, Mizzen+Main, Sephora, and more
Restaurants: North Italia, Culinary Dropout, Mastro’s Steakhouse, Mexican Sugar, and Sixty Vines
If you thought Frisco couldn’t get fancier, Fields West just said, “Hold my oat milk latte.”
🏦 Comerica Bank to Lay Off Nearly 200 Workers in Frisco
Some tough news on the corporate front, Comerica Bank will lay off 184 employees at its Star Tower location in Frisco this March.
The layoffs come just after Comerica’s $11 billion merger with Ohio based Fifth Third Bank, which says it still plans to expand across Texas with 150 new branches by 2029.
The Frisco office opened less than two years ago at The Star.
Comerica says it’s providing resources and support to impacted employees.
No word yet on whether services at the Frisco branch will change.
It’s another reminder that even in booming Frisco, big corporate shifts can still hit close to home.
