The Monday Scoop for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco.

It’s Monday, and if your brain feels like it’s still logged into the weekend, you’re not alone. Whether you’re sipping coffee or dodging construction cones, I’ve got your news, events, and weather, all served with extra Frisco flavor.

“No Kings” Protest Rocks DFW, Frisco Joins In

From Frisco to Fort Worth, thousands marched this Saturday in “No Kings” protests opposing Trump’s immigration policies and what many see as rising authoritarianism.

In downtown Dallas, chants of “We are the people, we are the power” rang out as more than 10,000 protesters filled Main Street, waving handmade signs and demanding change. The scene was peaceful but intense, helicopters overhead, flags in hand, and voices raised high. In Frisco, hundreds gathered early near FM 423, cheered on by honking cars and watched over by local police in traffic vests. Protesters lined sidewalks with signs, voicing anger over immigration raids, separation of families, and the militarized parade held the same day in D.C. for Trump’s 79th birthday.

Frisco’s crowd might’ve been smaller than Dallas’, but across 64 Texas cities, and over 2,000 protests nationwide, the message seems to be loud.

Mayor Jeff Cheney Reflects on 18 Years of Leading Frisco

Mayor Cheney gave his final state of the city address, wrapping up nearly two decades of service and a legacy built on bold decisions, big projects, and city pride.

🎓 Secured UNT’s permanent Frisco campus
🏌️‍♂️ Helped land the PGA of America HQ
📚 Approved the new library at the peak of the pandemic (saved millions)
💬 "Frisco’s success is a symphony…I’ve had the honor to conduct the orchestra.”

With a mayoral election looming in 2026 and a changing city landscape, Cheney reminded everyone that Frisco’s heart has always been its people.

Frisco Might Turn the Silo into a Giant Art Piece

Frisco City Council is considering turning the city's iconic silo into a public art display using light projection. Think murals, but rotating and tech-savvy.

💡 Two projectors, housed in a climate-controlled system
💰 Cost: $300K–$600K (cheaper than a full mural)
🎨 Static art or slow slideshows, no flashing images, so no highway distractions

Council hasn’t voted yet, but staff is exploring more options, including local artist collaborations. Get ready because your next Instagram backdrop might just be a silo.
