The Friday Recap for Frisco
Howdy, Frisco! Happy Friday, and also... happy almost August? I don't know who let summer speed run itself like this, but here we are. School supply lists are about to start haunting your group chats, so parents, prepare yourselves: it's almost time to relearn the fine art of pretending you know what a "flexible seating cushion" is.
This week brings a golf industry takeover, some new retail and fitness openings, and a proud moment for a group of Frisco ISD students. Plus a solid lineup of events to close out July.
Let's get into it.

β³ Major Golf Expo Returns to Frisco, Showcasing the Future of Golf
The PGA Buying Summit is back in Frisco for its fourth year, and it's bigger than ever.
The four day event brought together nearly 1,000 PGA of America Golf Professionals, retailers, buyers, and manufacturers from 42 states, Canada, and Mexico
This year's summit is the largest yet, featuring a record 196 exhibitors, including 36 Texas based companies
DFW's central U.S. location is a big part of the draw, according to Event Director Lisa Langas
Local brands like Southlake based Fury and Dallas based Heads Up and Landon Jones used the summit to showcase their products
Beyond product displays, the event included educational sessions, networking, and demos of the latest golf tech
At this point Frisco should just rename itself Golf City, Texas and call it a day.

π Wrangler Plans New Store for Stonebriar Centre
Denim fans, rejoice. Wrangler is staking its claim at Stonebriar Centre by the end of the year.
A roughly $626,000 renovation will convert a 1,762 square foot space for the new store
Construction is expected to run from Sept. 1 to Dec. 1

Just in time to fully commit to the cowboy boots and belt buckle look you've been quietly considering all summer.
π Frisco ISD Students Earn Medals at FCCLA Nationals
Four Frisco ISD students brought home hardware from a national competition in Washington, D.C.
Shruthika Omkumar of Lebanon Trail High School was named National Champion and Gold Medalist in the School to Career Challenge, and also earned a Silver Medal in the Sustainability Challenge
Lauren Field (Wakeland High School), Pramiti Thoppe (Emerson High School), and Naumika Dantuluri (Wakeland High School) each earned Silver Medal Finalist honors in their respective categories
Eight Frisco ISD FCCLA members qualified for nationals after placing at the state level
While in D.C., students toured the U.S. Capitol, led by staff from Rep. Pat Fallon's office
These kids are out here winning national titles while I still can't figure out how to fold a fitted sheet. Congratulations to all of them.
