The Friday Recap for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco!
Happy 10/10, you 10/10. You made it through another week of road detours, youth soccer traffic, and the eternal mystery of “why is every left turn in Frisco under construction?” But before you reward yourself with a pumpkin spice latte or two, here’s your Friday fix of what’s happening around town, from a paw-some Sunday event to some seriously good food news.

🐶 Frisco City Council Backs $12.8M Animal Facility Plan
Big news for Frisco’s four legged resident, and the humans who adore them. The city is moving forward with a plan to build a two story, 18,987 square foot animal facility near PGA Parkway and Executive Drive through a public private partnership.
Highlights:
$12.8 million project on 4.05 acres (funded by the Frisco CDC)
Includes training, vet clinics, adoption services, grooming, and a pet pantry
Operated by Wiggle Butt Academy (yes, that’s really the name….perfection)
Onsite vet technician 24/7 for after hours care
Police Chief David Shilson said this facility will ease pressure on the county shelter and help keep pets out of the system entirely. The goal? A more humane, community driven approach, where pets find homes faster and get care closer to home. Now that’s what we call a purr-fect plan.
Frisco CEO Says Foreign Skilled Workers Create U.S. Jobs, Not Take Them
In an opinion that’s stirring some thoughtful debate, Awarity CEO Aditya Varanasi argues that foreign skilled workers don’t take jobs, they help create them.
His points:
The U.S. issues 85,000 H-1B visas annually (just 21.8% of applicants get picked).
Workers bring specialized STEM skills that power innovation.
His own company’s H-1B hires helped expand jobs for U.S. citizens
Varanasi says that proposals to charge a $100,000 visa fee could stunt innovation and push bright minds to other countries.
