The Monday Scoop for Frisco
Howdy Frisco,
Happy Monday, friends! Hope you survived the weekend's weird mix of humidity and patio weather. As we head into the last stretch of April (can you believe it?), here’s everything you need to know to start your week.
In the News
Frisco's Biggest Opportunity: Arts (and Why People Are Moving Away)
Frisco has the Cowboys, PGA HQ, and award-winning restaurants... but apparently, it’s missing soul. Mayor Jeff Cheney says the #1 reason residents leave isn’t for jobs or bigger houses, it’s for more arts and culture.
That’s why Cheney and city leaders are pushing hard for Propositions A & B on the May 3 ballot. If passed, they'll fund a $340 million Center for the Arts, bringing Broadway shows, national tours, concerts, and student productions right here to Frisco.
A massive GPS study tracked 54.8 million data points and found Frisco residents are flocking to places like Legacy West and Toyota Music Factory... meaning, yep, we want entertainment.
Voters will decide soon, it's Frisco’s biggest ballot issue this year.
Major Road Projects Ahead (Brace Yourself)
Frisco’s gearing up for 10 big transportation upgrades, from new roundabouts to major six-lane expansions. Here’s the quick scoop:
Teel Parkway widening (Q3 2025)
New Roundabouts coming to Frisco Street (2026)
New Traffic Signals on Custer Trail & Stonebrook Drive
Mahard Parkway growing to 6 lanes by 2026
Dallas Parkway frontage road getting extra lanes
Main & 4th Street, full pedestrian plaza underway
PGA Parkway expansion, major upgrades by 2026
Translation: Expect orange cones, but also easier drives (eventually).
From Lone Star High to the NFL
Frisco’s own Ashton Jeanty is officially NFL-bound. The Lone Star HS alum and Boise State star was drafted #6 overall by the Las Vegas Raiders.
College stats:
🏆 2,601 rushing yards in one season
🏆 29 touchdowns
🏆 Unanimous All-American honors
Frisco ISD: Straight A's (Almost)
Frisco ISD officially earned an A rating from the Texas Education Agency for the 2022-23 school year!
Only three campuses scored a “C”, otherwise, it’s straight A’s and B’s across the board.
👏 Great job, FISD students, teachers, and parents.
