The Monday Scoop for Frisco
Howdy, Frisco.
Between election season finally wrapping up, random summer thunderstorms, and the annual tradition of asking "why is my electric bill this high?", it's been a busy few days around town.
This week feels a little different.
The signs are coming down. The campaign texts are (hopefully) slowing down. And Frisco officially has a new mayor for the first time in nearly a decade.
No matter who you voted for, or if you spent election day avoiding politics entirely and eating tacos instead, at the end of the day, we're all neighbors. We all want safe streets, good schools, thriving businesses, and a bright future for the city we call home.
So let's dive into what's happening around Frisco.

🗳️ Mark Hill Wins Historic Frisco Mayoral Race
After one of the most talked-about local elections in Frisco history, voters have chosen Mark Hill as the city's next mayor.
Saturday's runoff election saw Hill defeat Rod Vilhauer with more than 58% of the vote, earning over 19,000 votes and becoming Frisco's first new mayor in nine years.
A few notable facts:
First open mayoral seat since 2017
More than 33,000 voters participated
Over $1 million spent during the campaign
Frisco has grown roughly 40% since the last open mayoral race
Hill officially takes office July 7
Hill's campaign centered heavily around unity and inclusion during a race that often became heated as debates over growth, traffic, immigration, religion, and Frisco's changing demographics dominated headlines.
Speaking to supporters Saturday night, Hill thanked members of Frisco's Hindu, Muslim, Hispanic, and Asian communities and said his campaign succeeded because it had "friends in different places."
His supporters celebrated with chants of "Mayor Hill!" while waving pom-poms and wearing shirts featuring his campaign slogan, "Unite Frisco."
Looking ahead, Hill has said some of his priorities include:
Addressing traffic congestion
Attracting more corporate employers
Maintaining low taxes
Supporting public safety
Managing Frisco's final stages of growth
Now that the election is over, let's do something radical:
Be nice to each other.
Whether you voted for Hill, Vilhauer, somebody else, or spent the entire election wondering why your mailbox suddenly gained 14 pounds, we're all on the same team now.
Here's hoping Frisco's next chapter is a great one. <3

🏥 $25 Million Texas Health Frisco Expansion Nears Completion
Good news for anyone who's ever spent way too long sitting in a waiting room.
Texas Health Hospital Frisco is nearing completion of a major $25 million expansion project that will add 30 new patient rooms by November.
The expansion will increase the hospital's capacity to:
123 total beds
30 brand-new private patient rooms
Faster movement from ER to inpatient care
Family-friendly rooms with recliners and pull-out sofas
Natural lighting in every room
Hospital leaders say the goal is simple: reduce wait times and get patients into treatment spaces faster instead of holding them in emergency rooms.
And they're not stopping there.
The hospital opened in 2019 and continues to grow alongside Frisco's booming population.
Because apparently everything in Frisco eventually gets an expansion, including traffic.
