Frisco Insider - Murder Suspect Caught + Mugs and Pugs + More

The Friday Recap for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco.

You did it. You survived another blazing Texas week full of unpredictable gas prices, accidental Amazon splurges, and wondering if it’s too late to start that summer body plan. (Spoiler: it is. But you look great anyway.)

This weekend’s forecast? Sunshine, pugs, Powerball dreams, and movie nights under the stars. As always, I’ve rounded up the latest local news, events you can actually go to, and just enough weather to plan your outfit. Let’s ride.

Capital Murder Suspect Caught After Foot Chase in Frisco

WILD. A 21 year old man wanted for capital murder in Dallas County was arrested Wednesday in Frisco after fleeing from a traffic stop on Stonebrook Parkway.

The suspect, Jonathan Elizalde, jumped out of the car (which smelled like weed, police say) and bolted. Police launched drones, searched the area, and eventually found him hiding under bushes after a local resident called it in.
Charges include:

  • Capital murder (Dallas County)

  • Theft of property

  • Evading arrest on foot

Big shoutout to Frisco PD, and to the local resident whose fence probably needs replacing now.

Frisco Resident Wins $2M Powerball Prize

Someone in Frisco is officially one of our more financially stable neighbors. A $2 million Powerball winning ticket was sold at the Walmart Supercenter on Preston Rd, and the winner (smartly) chose to stay anonymous.

The next round’s on you, mystery millionaire. 🥂

Mugs and Pugs Café Coming to Frisco

Yes, you read that right. Pugs. In a café. With lattes.

CuppaPug, a London favorite, is making its U.S. debut at 8100 Stonebrook Parkway. No opening date yet, but the setup sounds like a dream:

☕ Pug friendly coffee shop vibes
🐾 Rotating crew of rescue pugs (some adoptable!)

Pug-themed cocktails, pupuccinos, and photo ops galore? We’re in.

Get ready to hit the path. Frisco just approved a $439,950 design contract to extend the Veloweb trail through Panther Creek.

It’ll connect with the Panther Creek Hike & Bike Trail, University Village, and even the UNT Frisco Campus. Bonus: eventually connects west to Roger’s Settlement Park and the PGA trail.

Healthy weekend strolls? Check.
