The Friday Recap for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco. Happy Friday, and, more importantly Happy Mother's Day Weekend.
If you forgot it's Mother's Day this Sunday, you still have roughly 48 hours to get your act together. Flowers. Brunch reservations. A handwritten note that doesn't start with "Hey so..." You've got this. Much love to all the Mothers reading this.
Yesterday was genuinely one of those picture perfect North Texas days, warm sun, a light breeze, allergies still mildly threatening but otherwise manageable. Today's looking equally lovely. Go outside and look up from your phone (after you finish reading this, obviously).
Let's get into it.

🛍️ Stonebriar Centre Is Done Playing Around, Curfew Incoming
Effective tomorrow, May 9, Stonebriar Centre in Frisco is rolling out its new "Parental Guidance Required" program, and yes, that is the official name. Shoutout to whoever in the PR department watched one too many after school specials.
Stonebriar Centre, Frisco:
Every Saturday starting at 3 PM, guests under 18 must be accompanied by an adult (age 21+)
Trained safety officers will be at all entrances to check IDs for anyone who looks under 18
One adult can supervise up to four minors and must stay with them the entire time
Mall officials say the program is "temporary" and aimed at addressing disruptive gatherings of unsupervised youth.
Translation: the food court vibe has been a lot lately. The mall isn't closing its doors to teens, just asking them to bring a responsible adult who won't also get distracted by Auntie Anne's. Fair enough, honestly.
🚐 Frisco Just Got Its Own Rideshare
The city of Frisco, in partnership with the Denton County Transportation Authority, has launched GoZone, a new on demand microtransit service that operates kind of like Uber, but way cheaper and with predetermined pickup spots. It launched Monday, May 5, and your wallet is already thankful.
Operates Monday–Friday, 6 AM to 6 PM
Rides are less than 5 bucks per person depending on distance
Book through the DCTA GoZone app and look for "Frisco's service"
Service zone runs roughly from Eldorado Pkwy (N) to Main Street/SH 121 (S), Hillcrest Rd (E) to FM 423 (W)
Also connects to the Northwest Plano Park and Ride
DCTA CEO Paul Cristina says your ride will arrive within 20–30 minutes and take no more than 30 minutes total. Yes, you might share a van with your neighbor. That's just called community. Mayor Jeff Cheney is already calling it "incredible."
⚽ World Cup Mania Is Coming to Frisco This Summer, Businesses, Get Ready
Frisco has branded itself "Sports City USA" for years, and this summer it's putting its money where its crest is. The Swedish Men's National Team will use Toyota Stadium as their base camp for the FIFA World Cup, training there and staying at the Westin Dallas Stonebriar.
Sweden plays Japan on June 25 in Arlington, with 8 more matches at AT&T Stadium bringing fans from Japan, Netherlands, Argentina, and beyond
The Dallas area could see up to $2 billion in economic impact, yes, billion with a B.
97 out of 104 World Cup matches will be livestreamed at Simpson Plaza in front of Frisco City Hall, up to 2,000 attendees per watch party
Frisco residents get first dibs on watch party tickets
Djorn Buchholz, Executive Director of the National Soccer Hall of Fame, said it best at this week's Chamber of Commerce event: "This is not a Super Bowl. This is a Super Bowl on steroids and we're hosting nine of them." Local business owners were encouraged to train bilingual staff, simplify navigation for non English speakers, and basically just be extra great Texans. If you own a restaurant, a shop, or even a lemonade stand near Toyota Stadium, your summer is about to get very, very interesting.
