Frisco Insider - More Trees + Dr. Pepper + More

The Friday Recap for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco!

Happy Friday! You made it through another week of sweltering car rides, perhaps sending kids off to college, and wondering why every left turn seems to be under construction. But the good news? It’s a long weekend ahead, so whether you’re firing up the grill, catching a game, or just finding shade anywhere you can, I’ve got your headlines, the event lineup, and the weather report to keep you in the know.

Frisco Approves $4.6M for Median Makeover

Frisco medians are about to glow up. The city just approved $4.6 million to plant trees, shrubs, and fresh turf grass along medians on FM 423 and Custer Road.

📍 Location: FM 423 & Custer Rd medians
💸 Funding: $2.3M from TxDOT’s Green Ribbon Program + $2.3M in city bonds
🛠️ Timeline: Construction starts September, and it’ll take about 9 months

Expect ornamental shrubs, street trees, river rock, and some much needed greenery. Basically less “concrete jungle,” more “suburban zoo.” So next spring, your morning commute may actually look like the cover of a landscaping magazine.

Frisco Named No. 1 City in America for Remote Workers

Pack up your pajama pants with pride, because Frisco just ranked #1 in the U.S. for remote workers in a new national study.

✨ Why we topped the list:
• Fast internet (271 Mbps)
• High median pay ($111K)
• Lower cost of living than coastal tech hubs
• $2,300 average yearly dining costs (cheap-ish takeout fuel)

More than 40,000 Frisco residents work from home, over one third of the city’s workforce. That’s a lot of Zoom calls happening behind ring lights in our neighborhoods. Basically, Frisco is now officially the pajama capital of America.

Keurig Dr Pepper Splitting, Frisco Becomes HQ for Dr Pepper 🥤

Big news for one of Frisco’s most famous corporate names: Keurig Dr Pepper is splitting into two companies, and Dr Pepper’s new home base will be right here in Frisco.

The coffee side: Moving to Burlington, MA + Amsterdam HQ
The beverage side: Dr Pepper, 7UP, A&W, Canada Dry, and more, all headquartered in Frisco

CEO Tim Cofer will remain based in Frisco, leading the beverage unit with more than $11 billion in annual sales. And with Dr Pepper recently overtaking Pepsi as the #2 soda in the U.S, this HQ news is sweeter than a cherry vanilla refill.

Barrel House Food & Spirit Now Open

Frisco’s bar scene just got a new player. Barrel House Food & Spirit opened on Main Street this week with:

  • Tons of beers on tap

  • Pub food staples like wings, nachos & spicy cheese curds

  • Full lineup of spirits

Perfect for your game day hangout or a post work stop where you’ll probably run into three neighbors you know. Consider this your new Friday night fallback spot when “Where should we eat?” becomes a 30 minute group text debate.
