The Friday Recap for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco!
Happy Friday! You made it through another week of kids’ sports practices, overloaded inboxes, and of course, those “surprise” lane closures that pop up like Whac-A-Mole. (Seriously, one minute you’re cruising down Preston, the next you’re parked behind a row of orange cones wondering if you accidentally RSVP’d to a construction party.) But hey, the weekend’s here, and I’ve got your news, events, and weather lined up so you can dodge traffic and focus on the fun.

🎖 New Purple Heart Monument Unveiled in Frisco
Frisco Commons Park is now home to a brand new Purple Heart Monument honoring U.S. service members wounded or killed in action. The dedication on Sept. 20 drew veterans, city leaders, and community members.
Details worth knowing:
Location: Frisco Veterans Memorial at Frisco Commons Park (8000 McKinney Rd.)
Monument: 5 feet tall with an engraved Purple Heart Medallion
Flanked by: Two sentinel soldier statues standing guard
Background: Frisco was declared a Purple Heart City in 2017
The site already includes the Walk of Honor, Gold Star Family Memorial, WWII Flyboy statue, and more, making it a growing centerpiece for military remembrance in North Texas.
If you’re looking for a local spot that feels warm, inviting, and absolutely delicious, you’ve got to stop by Kitchen Master in Frisco. This isn’t just another restaurant, it’s a place where neighbors gather, friends laugh, and meals are crafted with real passion.
Their specialty? Handcrafted xiao long bao, the famous soup dumplings that are carefully folded and steamed fresh every single day. The moment you take that first bite, you’ll taste the richness of the broth, the tenderness of the filling, and the kind of freshness that you just don’t find everywhere. It’s no surprise so many people are calling it the best dumpling experience in Dallas.
What makes Kitchen Master stand out is their commitment to fresh ingredients and genuine care in the kitchen. Every dish is made to order, never rushed, and built with that perfect balance of flavors that keeps you coming back.

🥞 Maple Street Biscuit Company Closes Frisco Location
Say goodbye to those giant biscuit sandwiches, because Maple Street Biscuit Company has shut down multiple DFW locations, including Frisco. The closures follow a larger restructuring by parent company Cracker Barrel.
What happened:
🚫 Closed: Frisco, Keller, and 2 McKinney locations
🥞 Open: Mansfield remains the only DFW spot
📊 Bigger picture: 14 Maple Street restaurants closing nationwide
💰 History: Cracker Barrel acquired the chain in 2019 for $36M
Frisco had the very first Texas Maple Street location back in 2018, so for longtime fans, it feels like the end of an era.

🐶 BARK WEEK: CuppaPug Dog Café Opens in Frisco
This one’s for the dog lovers, especially pug fans. CuppaPug, a dog café originally from London, is opening its first Texas location right here in Frisco on Sept. 26. Expect playful pups, themed merch, and plenty of pug snorts.
What to know before you go:
🐾 Setup: Separate café + playroom for safe, happy pug cuddles
🐶 Dogs: 15–20 rescue pugs daily from DFW Pug Rescue + owners’ crew
🛍 Merch: Pug-sized costumes, paw print coasters, “Howdy Pug” tees
☕ Coming soon: Coffee & light bites from Evergreen Coffee Co.
📝 Adoption: Visitors can apply to adopt or foster rescue pugs
Each one hour session starts with “Who Let the Pugs Out?” blasting as the dogs run in. Honestly, that alone might be worth the ticket.
