The Wednesday Loop for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco! 👋
I don’t know about you, but I’m still writing “2025” on everything and pretending my holiday leftovers are part of a balanced diet. We’re officially in that weird zone where resolutions are fresh, gyms are packed, and we’re all pretending to love salads again.
Whether you’re here for the events, the news, or just the sarcasm, you’re what makes Frisco Insider feel like home.
Now, let’s get into this week’s headlines, from Big Tex’s financial diet to a 52 year old mystery solved, plus your weekend events lineup (we’ve got painting, yoga, and mochi).

Texas Edition
🎡 State Fair of Texas Pledges Lower Prices for 2026
Big Tex might be smiling a little wider next year, because fair officials say their #1 goal for 2026 is affordability.
After 2025 saw the lowest attendance in years (down 400,000 visitors), the State Fair is promising to “rein in pricing” for tickets, food, and rides.
Tickets last year ranged from $7-$29
Prices rose $2 in 2025
Vendors will work with officials to lower costs
Fair President Mitchell Glieber said they’ll do a “deep dive” on pricing to help families who’ve been priced out. Council members agreed, noting they constantly hear the same complaint: “We just couldn’t afford it.”
Translation: cheaper corn dogs, more happy Texans, and maybe… just maybe… we’ll finally be able to afford a second Fletcher’s this year.

🕵️♂️ 52-Year-Old Missing Persons Case Finally Solved
After five decades of mystery, Dallas police have solved Texas’s oldest missing persons case, identifying teenager Norman Prater, who vanished in 1973.
Detective Ryan Dalby connected the dots between Norman’s disappearance and a long unidentified hit and run victim found that same year in Rockport. The breakthrough came after a photo of the victim resurfaced in late 2025, helping investigators confirm his identity.
Norman’s brother, Isaac, identified him from the photo, finally giving his family closure after 52 years. Police Chief Daniel Comeaux called it “a testament to never giving up.”
One family’s half century wait for answers is finally over, and it’s all thanks to persistence, collaboration, and one detective who refused to let the case fade away.
🎶 Lost Spanish Guitar Masterpiece Revived by North Texas Musicians
Here’s one for the music lovers. Dallas guitarist Iván Duran Aguayo just brought back to life a long lost Spanish concerto from the 1890s, “Premier Concerto pour Guitare, Op. 48” by Ernest Shand.
Aguayo discovered the sheet music in a Georgetown guitar shop and realized no one had ever recorded it with the original string quartet. So, he did it himself, performing with the Texas Guitar Society and recording the piece at Keller City Hall last year.
Proof that art never really disappears, sometimes it just needs a Texan with a $20 find and a whole lot of passion.
🚚 H-E-B Named in Lawsuit Over Fatal 18-Wheeler Crash
A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed against H-E-B and several trucking companies after a tragic crash in the Texas Panhandle killed four young women last November.
The women’s car had pulled over for a flat tire when an 18-wheeler, allegedly speeding and failing to slow down, collided with them. The impact flipped the truck and left no survivors.
The lawsuit accuses the driver and associated companies of negligence and is seeking damages for the victims’ families.
H-E-B said in a statement that the truck was operated by a third-party vendor and that they’re “devastated by this tragic accident” while fully cooperating with the investigation.
A sobering reminder that safety on the road, especially in rural Texas….can’t be taken for granted.
