The Wednesday Loop for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco.
Happy Wednesday, y’all, we’re halfway through the week!
If your back’s been acting up, your knees sound like bubble wrap every time you stand, or you’ve started making “old man noises” just getting off the couch, today’s issue is for you.
Meanwhile, Texas news is buzzing, from a shake-up in the National Guard deployment to a fired Texas State professor fighting back, and big prep work happening for next year’s World Cup right here in North Texas. Plus, one mother’s heartbreaking story has turned into a campaign for change at the Texas Capitol.
Let’s dig in.

Texas Edition
7 Texas Guard Members Removed from Illinois Deployment 🪖
The Texas Military Department confirmed that seven National Guard members have been pulled from their 60-day deployment in Illinois after “failing to meet mission requirements.” The troops were part of a 200 member force sent earlier this month to help protect federal property during anti-immigration protests.
Officials haven’t shared what “mission requirements” they failed, though photos circulating online showing some arriving Guardsmen sparked social media debate over their fitness. The department simply said, “Our standards will be high, uncompromising, and clear.” Translation: someone didn’t pass the test.
Meanwhile, a federal judge has ruled that the troops can remain in Illinois, but can’t patrol or guard federal buildings until more hearings happen. It’s Texas sized politics meeting Midwest drama.

Texas State Professor Fired… Again 🎓
Dr. Thomas Alter II, a Texas State University professor already fired once in September over controversial comments made at a socialist conference, has now been fired again, despite winning reinstatement from a judge just two weeks ago.
Alter called his second termination “a clear violation of my First Amendment rights,” saying it’s part of a “broader political attack to crush democracy.” The university insists the decision came after a “thorough review” of his conduct and due process hearing.
In short, the legal back and forth isn’t done, expect another round in court. And somewhere, a very tired HR department just wants to go home.
World Cup 2026: How North Texas Plans to Move Millions ⚽
With the 2026 FIFA World Cup set to bring millions of fans to North Texas, officials are scrambling to figure out how to move that many people around without turning DFW into a 24/7 traffic jam.
Planners are eyeing everything from AI-controlled traffic lights to special “managed lanes” on I-30 that change direction depending on game time. Arlington, which will host nine matches including a semifinal, is prepping more sidewalks, shuttle routes, and signage, and working with Uber and Lyft for better fan drop offs.
Flying taxis sadly won’t be ready in time (no Uber Air just yet), but Arlington promises to have them doing demo flights for the vibe. For now, your best bet to reach AT&T Stadium next summer: patience, sunscreen, and possibly rollerblades.
Mother of Slain Navy Sailor Running for Texas House 💔
Esmeralda Cantu-Castle, the mother of slain Navy sailor Angelina Resendiz, has announced her campaign for the Texas House of Representatives in District 37.
Her daughter’s death in June, found near Naval Station Norfolk after being reported missing, drew national attention and comparisons to the Vanessa Guillén case. Cantu-Castle has since become a vocal advocate for accountability and reform within the military.
Now, she’s turning that fight into political action. Her campaign, she says, is about ensuring “no other family endures what we did.” It’s a powerful story of heartbreak turned into purpose, and it’s resonating statewide.

💡 “Incorporated” means when a community becomes an official city, with its own government, mayor, and the right to tax us all fairly (or unfairly, depending on how you feel about property taxes)

Wed 15 – Sunny | 87° / 60°
Thu 16 – Partly Cloudy | 85° / 65°
Fri 17 – Mostly Sunny | 87° / 70°
Sat 18 – Partly Cloudy | 89° / 59°

Catch y’all Friday! 🌶️🎃🎶

Riddle Answer: B) 1908 — That’s the year Frisco officially became a city! Back then, it had one church, one cotton gin, and a whole lot more dirt roads than Starbucks.
