Frisco Insider - Measles Outbreak + Election Results + More

The Monday Scoop for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco!

Happy Monday, we’re in the month where pollen becomes protein and your calendar fills up faster than a Chick-fil-A drive-thru. Whether you're watching election results roll in or avoiding them entirely with a margarita in hand, here’s your full rundown of what’s happening in our city.

🚨 Measles Exposure at Frisco Walmart

Heads up, Frisco. Collin County Health Care is urging caution after a confirmed measles exposure at the Walmart on State Hwy 121. If you were there April 29 between 1:30–6:30 PM, you should monitor for symptoms until May 20.

Address: 16066 State Hwy 121 🩺 Watch for: Fever, rash, cough, sore throat, inflamed eyes, or white spots in your mouth 🙅 High-risk groups: Unvaccinated individuals, pregnant women, and the immunocompromised

Measles is highly contagious, and particles can linger for up to two hours. Officials urge anyone concerned to call their healthcare provider ASAP.

Voters Reject $340M Frisco Arts Center Proposals

Welp, looks like Frisco won’t be getting its Broadway lights just yet. Voters in both Collin and Denton counties rejected Propositions A and B over the weekend.

Prop A: Use Economic Development Corp. funds 🗳 Prop B: Authorize $160M in bonds

Both measures were shot down by ~60% of voters in both counties. The proposed 2,800-seat performing arts center would've included a community hall and major partnerships with Broadway Dallas. Supporters say it’s a setback, but the arts dream is far from over.

Meanwhile, expect runoffs for:

  • Place 2: Burt Thakur (43%) vs Tammy Meinershagen (41%)

  • Place 4: Jared Elad (38%) vs Gopal Ponangi (25%)

Also rejected: A charter amendment that would've given Frisco's elected officials a pay raise.
