The Monday Scoop for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco.
First of all… can we talk about that weather glow-up?
Saturday tried to wash us away with thunderstorms, but then Sunday showed up absolutely beautiful, sunshine, crisp air, perfect patio vibes. If you didn’t go outside yesterday, respectfully….what are you doing?
Now we’re heading into another week of growth, construction cones, election season energy, and at least one person in your neighborhood still taking down Valentine’s decorations. Let’s get into it.

🗳️ City Council & Frisco ISD Races Are Officially Set
The filing period for the May 2 general election has officially closed, and every Frisco City Council and Frisco ISD race will be contested. Translation: it’s going to be a busy ballot.
🏛️ Frisco City Council
On the ballot:
Mayor
Place 5
Place 6
Big headline here: Mayor Jeff Cheney and Council Member Brian Livingston are termed out, meaning we’re guaranteed new leadership on council.
Mayoral Candidates:
John Keating
Shona Sowell
Rod Vilhauer
Mark Hill
Place 5 Candidates:
Vijay Karthik
Laura Rummel (incumbent)
Sreekanth Reddy
Place 6 Candidates:

No matter where you land politically, this one matters. Local elections impact schools, taxes, infrastructure, and growth, aka the stuff you actually feel every day.
🚧 Rail District Redevelopment: $80M+ and Still Growing
Downtown Frisco is mid-transformation, and yes, the cones are still multiplying.
The city has now invested over $80 million into revitalizing the historic Rail District to make it more walkable, more vibrant, and more event-ready.
What’s Happening:
Main Street reconstruction (1st St to County Rd)
4th Street Plaza public gathering space
A new five-level parking garage (451 spaces)
Elm Street improvements
Timeline:
Main Street began July 2024
4th Street Plaza began September 2024
Parking garage began February 2025
Main Street completion expected Q1 2026
Plaza + garage expected Q2 2026
If you want real-time updates, lane closures, and parking maps, the city now has a dedicated Rail District page here:

Downtown is going to feel very different by summer.
🏢 Public Storage Relocating HQ to Frisco
Another big corporate win for North Texas, and Frisco specifically.
Public Storage, the $50 billion self-storage giant with more than 3,500 locations nationwide, is officially relocating its corporate headquarters from California to Frisco.
New Frisco address: 2811 Internet Boulevard
The company cited:
Talent pool depth
Innovation ecosystem
Business-friendly climate
Public Storage generates roughly $5 billion in annual revenue and is one of the largest publicly traded real estate investment trusts in the country.
This continues the trend of California companies choosing North Texas as their new HQ home. Frisco’s corporate momentum is very real.
🚧 Weekly Roadwork Roundup (Because Of Course)
Here’s what might test your patience this week:

EB College Pkwy at Wilmington Dr
2061 Zander Dr
Ongoing Pavement:
