The Monday Scoop for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco.
Well…the votes are in.
And somehow we’re in a cliffhanger season finale.
I genuinely thought by today we’d be packing up yard signs and moving on with our lives. Instead? We’ve got a runoff, more campaign signs, and another month of election energy.
Grab your popcorn even though it’s early. Let’s get into it.

🗳️ Frisco 2026 Election Results
As of Saturday night, unofficial results are in, and the mayor’s race is heading to a June 13 runoff.
Mayor (Runoff Incoming)
Mark Hill – 34.64% (8,705 votes)
Rod Vilhauer – 31.42% (7,895 votes)
Shona Sowell – 21.07% (5,294 votes)
John Keating – 12.87% (3,234 votes)
No one hit 50%, so Hill and Vilhauer advance.
We officially move from “election week” to “election sequel.”
Turnout Broke Records
25,128 voters cast ballots in the mayoral race, about 17.9% of registered voters, which is the highest turnout for a municipal election in Frisco in recent memory.
That’s a LOT of neighbors showing up.
Now we wait until June 13 for the final chapter.
And yes….those yard signs are absolutely not disappearing as quickly as we hoped.
City Council Results
Place 5:
Laura Rummel (incumbent) won with 66.18%.
Place 6:
Brittany Colberg won with 56.92%.
Both results are unofficial until canvassed May 12.
Frisco ISD Trustee Results
Place 4:
Dynette Davis (incumbent) won with 66.61%.
Place 5:
Misty Wamhoff won with 56.02%.
School board races were competitive, but no runoffs there.
So What’s Next?
Runoff Election: June 13
Voter registration deadline for runoff: May 7
Yard signs: staying put
Community group chats: still active
The suspense continues.
🚨 Grand Jury Decision in Frisco Road Rage Case
A grand jury has declined to indict a man previously charged in a 2025 fatal road rage shooting in a Frisco High School parking lot.
The suspect, Jason Bartik of Celina, had been charged with murder in October 2025 after the shooting death of 34 year old Robert Taylor of Plano.
Last week, the grand jury returned a “no bill”, meaning there was not enough evidence to proceed with felony charges.
Important notes:
No Frisco High School students were involved.
Details about what prompted the incident have not been released.
A “no bill” means there will be no trial in this case.
Heavy story, but an important update for the community.
🚧 Weekly Roadwork Roundup
