Frisco Removes General Public Comment from Council Agendas

Well…things just got spicy at City Hall.

At the June 2 meeting, Mayor Jeff Cheney announced that general public comment (non-agenda items) will no longer appear on council agendas indefinitely.

Here’s what that means:

• You can still speak, but only about items officially listed on the agenda.

• The open mic “talk about anything” portion? Gone for now.

• A new mayor is being elected June 13, and the next council may revisit the issue.

City leadership says residents have asked for a return to decorum and focus, and that recent meetings have shifted from free speech concerns into safety concerns.

Texas law only requires public comment on posted agenda items, not general commentary, so this move is technically allowed.

Translation:
City Council meetings may feel shorter…but your neighborhood Facebook groups are about to get longer.

Frisco Sets Guinness World Record With 1,141 Soccer Balls ⚽

Yes. We did that.

On June 4, volunteers arranged 1,141 soccer balls to spell out “2026” at Warren Sports Complex, officially earning Frisco a Guinness World Record for the world’s largest soccer ball number.

The minimum required? 1,000 balls.
Frisco said, “Cool, we’ll add 141 more just to flex.”

Frisco is serving as Team Base Camp for Sweden during the World Cup, and this was part of the build-up.

The record is certified.
The balls are counted.
The soccer references will continue.

(But hey, at least this one’s kinda cool.)

Frisco Police Arrest Pardoned Jan. 6 Rioter on Trespass Charges

Jake Lang, who was previously arrested and later pardoned in connection to Jan. 6, was arrested June 2 by Frisco police on criminal trespass charges.

Police say the charge stems from a 2025 incident where Lang allegedly filmed himself entering Kuykendall Stadium during protests following the fatal stabbing at a Frisco track meet.

Authorities reviewed video evidence before filing charges.
He was booked into Frisco jail and transferred to Collin County.

This case comes amid heightened political tensions locally, especially around City Council meetings in recent months.
