The Friday Recap for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco. Happy Friday!
We made it the ice is finally melting, the roads no longer look like skating rinks, and North Texans everywhere are remembering what it’s like to feel their toes again. It’s been a heavy week for our city, and while I’ll always keep this newsletter lighthearted and neighborly, I want to pause for a moment to acknowledge that Frisco is hurting right now.
The loss of two of our own, Elizabeth Angle and Grace Brito, has left our community shaken. My heart, thoughts, and prayers go out to their families, friends, and classmates.
That said, Frisco’s spirit is one of unity, and this week, you can really feel it. So as we warm up, let’s come together to remember, support, and (when the time’s right) celebrate life again, with compassion, laughter, and maybe a little 80s music.
Here’s what’s happening around town.

💐 Frisco Holds Vigil for Teens Killed in Sledding Accident
The Frisco community is gathering to honor 16 year olds Elizabeth Angle and Grace Brito, the two Wakeland High School students who tragically passed away following last Sunday’s sledding accident.
A prayer vigil was held Thursday evening at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Frisco.
A second vigil planned at Wakeland High was canceled due to icy conditions but will be rescheduled.
Friends described the girls as inseparable, “besties who held on to each other till the very end.”
Grace’s family shared that she had recently become an organ donor, fulfilling her wish to help others even after her passing. Elizabeth’s mom called her daughter “a bright light and a brave soul,” saying she takes comfort in knowing “they are in heaven together.”
It’s been a heartbreaking week, but the outpouring of love from students, parents, and neighbors shows exactly what makes this city special, we grieve together, and we heal together.
Where Frisco Eats When It Wants Real Flavor

Every Frisco local knows the challenge: you want something fresh, flavorful, and satisfying, but not another chain or drive through meal. That’s where Kitchen Master Bistro steps in.
Tucked in the heart of Frisco, this local favorite is built around one idea, food should feel both homemade and exciting. From chef crafted entrées to signature sauces that took years to perfect, every dish has a story. It’s not fast food. It’s food made by people who care about what ends up on your plate.
Whether it’s a quiet lunch break, a casual date night, or a family dinner spot that actually pleases everyone, Kitchen Master Bistro turns simple meals into moments worth slowing down for.
Locals say you taste the difference starting with the first bite. Maybe that’s why so many say it feels like “Frisco’s hidden gem.”

⚽ Lebanon Trail Girls Soccer Eyes Fourth Straight Playoff Run
On the field, Frisco’s soccer scene continues to shine, and the girls at Lebanon Trail High School are leading the charge.
Coach Justin Meidenbauer says the team’s recent success, including three straight playoff appearances, has set the bar high, but this year’s group is ready to push further.
Returning stars include senior Nalia Karim (All-District First Team) and sophomore standout Alexa Cosby, last year’s Newcomer of the Year.
Senior goalkeeper Grace Mancillas and forward Leah Warren bring leadership and consistency.
With a 5–1 win over Memorial to open the district season, the Trail Blazers are off to a hot start.
🌳 Frisco to Break Ground on Grand Park in April
After nearly 20 years of waiting, it’s finally happening, Grand Park is breaking ground this April.
Here’s what to expect from the long-awaited 1,011-acre “urban oasis” coming along the Dallas North Tollway:
Civic Park phase kicks off first, complete with a large pond, amphitheater, and walking trails.
Later phases will add an Adventure Play zone, Sports Park, and Botanic Garden.
Cleanup from the old Exide Technologies site continues, with the city investing $39 million (and counting) to restore the land.
Play Frisco’s Director Shannon Coates says the groundbreaking ceremony is planned for the week of April 13. The city hopes Grand Park will become Frisco’s version of Central Park, a place for connection, recreation, and nature right in the heart of town.
☕ La La Land Kind Cafe Coming to Frisco!
The ultra-aesthetic La La Land Kind Cafe is finally opening a Frisco location.
The cafe’s motto is “Be Kind,” and they walk the talk, offering paid internships for youth transitioning out of foster care.
Menu highlights include:
Avocado Toast (because, obviously)
French Toast Latte and California Persian Tea
Cacao Banana Chia Pudding
La La Land has become a Texas favorite for its sunshine yellow decor, wholesome mission, and Instagram worthy drinks. Consider this your new “treat yourself” stop on Legacy x Eldorado.
