The Monday Scoop for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco.
First off, I hope everyone had an amazing Mother’s Day.
The weather this weekend was elite until yesterday’s rain came along but it is what it is.
Now…full transparency: this week’s event lineup is a little lighter than usual. Not a full “stay home and reorganize the garage” week, but definitely more “grab tacos and sing karaoke” than “four simultaneous festivals and a drone show.”
Still, we’ve got some big news and some solid midweek fun. Let’s get into it.

🎢 Universal Kids Resort Surpasses Job Projections
Before the gates even open, Universal Kids Resort is already flexing.
The 97 acre theme park has generated 4,100+ construction jobs, with about 85% coming from North Texas. That nearly doubles the original projection of 2,500 jobs when the project was first announced in 2023.
And that’s just construction.
750+ park based team members already working on site
Expected to reach 1,400 operational roles by opening
300 room hotel
7 themed lands (Shrek, Jurassic World, SpongeBob, Minions, Trolls, Puss in Boots…yes, your kids will demand to go weekly)
The VP of the park said they underestimated how much local support they’d receive, which honestly tracks. Frisco builds things fast.
This isn’t just a theme park. It’s becoming:
Birthday central
Field trip HQ
“We need something to do today” destination
Summer opening is approaching…and yes, your wallet is already nervous.
⚖️ Frisco Daycare Faces Second Lawsuit
Two families have now filed civil lawsuits against Kids ‘R’ Kids of Lawler Farm following allegations of mistreatment caught on surveillance video.
The lawsuit claims:
Alleged illegal discipline tactics
Incidents involving a 3 year old child
15 separate alleged occurrences
State compliance reports citing 30+ violations
The daycare says the employees involved no longer work there and declined further comment due to ongoing litigation.
Important notes:
This is a civil lawsuit.
No criminal charges have been announced at this time.
The investigation involved the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
Understandably, this is a deeply concerning story for parents. We’ll keep you updated if anything changes.
🔎 Second Arrest in 2002 Cold Case Murder
Frisco Police have made a second arrest in the 2002 murder of Plano father Frank Weiss.
Weiss was found near Lake Lewisville 24 years ago.
His former wife was arrested two weeks ago.
A second suspect was taken into custody Friday.
Detectives reopened the case earlier this year and re-interviewed witnesses. Police say the investigation is still ongoing and more developments could follow.
Twenty four years later and justice may finally be moving forward.
