The Monday Scoop for Frisco

Howdy Frisco.
Alright. Deep breath.
We survived:
• Another windy weekend
• At least one allergy attack
• And that one neighbor who already mowed at 7:02 AM
Spring in Frisco is basically: beautiful skies + dramatic weather + everyone trying to “get their steps in.”
Let’s get into your Monday rundown.

🏃♂️ Frisco ISD Increases Security at District Track Meet
This week’s District 11-5A track meet comes with heightened security as the community marks one year since the tragic death of Austin Metcalf.
Here’s what’s happening:
The meet was moved to Lobo Stadium in Little Elm
Enhanced security measures are in place
District administrators and security personnel are on site
Events run through 7 PM
Austin Metcalf, a 17 year old Frisco Memorial High School student, was fatally stabbed during last year’s district meet.
The suspect, Karmelo Anthony, is charged with first degree murder. His trial is scheduled to begin June 1, 2026.
Frisco ISD released a statement reaffirming its commitment to maintaining a safe environment for students, athletes, and families.
It’s a heavy anniversary. The focus this week is remembrance, safety, and community.
🏒 Frisco ISD Partners with Dallas Stars Elite Hockey Academy
Frisco ISD is officially teaming up with the Dallas Stars Elite Hockey Academy to allow elite-level hockey players to receive public education through the district’s Frisco Flex program.
What this means:
Open to boys and girls in grades 9–12
Students remain fully enrolled in Frisco ISD
A certified teacher provides on site academic support at the training facility
The district and academy share costs until 2028–29
The program follows the Frisco ISD academic calendar and operates during normal school hours.
Translation:
You can chase NHL dreams and still turn in your homework.
Honestly? Pretty cool.
