The Friday Recap for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco.
You did it, the first full week of December is officially behind us! The Christmas lights are twinkling, Starbucks is running out of whipped cream again, and you’ve probably heard “All I Want for Christmas Is You” at least 37 times already.
It’s that magical time when Frisco turns into a Hallmark movie, minus the drama, plus a lot of construction cones. We’ve got a full slate this week: big headlines, new restaurant news, and plenty of festive events to keep your weekend merry (and maybe a little sweaty if you join that HYROX workout).
Let’s dive in, y’all.
If you work at or know someone who runs any Frisco business that could use more clients/customers or simply wants to support a local publication trying to do something cool, we’d love to chat. We are proven to be the most effective local marketing channel for the partners we’ve worked with. Just fill out this form

🎤 ACM Awards Leaving Frisco for Las Vegas
Sad news for country fans, Frisco’s three-year run as host of the Academy of Country Music Awards is coming to an end. The star studded event is heading back to Las Vegas for its 61st show on May 17, 2026, streaming live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Here’s what to know:
For three years, the Ford Center at The Star transformed into Nashville’s biggest stage outside of Tennessee.
The 2025 show celebrated the ACM’s 60th anniversary, featuring icons like Reba McEntire, Lainey Wilson, and Miranda Lambert.
No official reason was given for the move, but ACM execs had previously praised Frisco’s hotels, event space, and proximity to major airports.
So for now, country music’s “biggest party” is hitting the Strip again, but hey, maybe they’ll miss us and come back after a few rounds of blackjack.
🎓 Frisco ISD Expands Dual Credit with New Collin College Program
Frisco ISD just announced a huge opportunity for high school students looking to get ahead. Starting in the 2026-27 school year, students can complete up to 44 hours of college credit through the new EDGE Dual Credit Program at Collin College’s Frisco campus.
Key details:
Classes will run Monday–Thursday, morning and afternoon sessions.
Students can complete the full Texas Core Curriculum before graduation.
Tuition is $67 per credit hour, and qualifying students get no cost tuition.
Applications are open now through Feb. 12.
The program replaces the older UNT dual-credit partnership and focuses on project based learning. Basically, high schoolers can knock out their first year of college before they even buy their first dorm mini fridge.
💸 Frisco Rents Are the Highest in Texas (Tied with The Colony)
If your rent is high… you’re not alone. According to the Zumper Dallas Metro Report, Frisco and The Colony are officially the most expensive cities in Texas for one bedroom apartments, both averaging $1,620 per month.
Here’s how it stacks up:
Frisco & The Colony: $1,620
Grapevine: $1,470
Plano & Dallas: $1,450
Texas average: $1,126
Meanwhile, Cleburne is the most affordable at just $1,000, with Arlington and Benbrook following close behind. So if you’re feeling priced out, maybe it’s time to make friends in Cleburne (they’ve got space).
🦞 Cajun Claws Seafood Boil House Coming to Frisco
Get those bibs ready, Cajun Claws Seafood Boil House is opening soon at Frisco Bridges North (3685 Preston Rd, Ste. 167).
Expect spicy, saucy seafood boils loaded with shrimp, crab, and crawfish, plus the usual Cajun comfort sides like corn, sausage, and potatoes. The restaurant hasn’t set an opening date yet, but the signage is up, and locals are already circling like seagulls over a shrimp platter.
If you’re craving a taste of Louisiana, this might be your new go to spot.
