Frisco Insider - Health Inspection + Road Safety + More

The Monday Scoop for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco.

Welcome to another sizzling week in the suburbs, where the sun never sleeps, the roads can’t handle the heat, and apparently, neither can some kitchens. Whether you’re starting your week with an iced coffee or just trying not to melt before noon, I’ve got your full dose of local happenings, need to know news, and just enough weekend planning fuel to keep you sane. Let’s jump into it, because Mondays aren’t for small talk.

Roaches, Risky Food Temps, and Frisco’s Latest Health Inspection Surprises

If you were planning on eating out this week, you might want to read this first. Frisco’s latest health inspections, covering June 29 to July 12, turned up some eyebrow raising violations. Out of 61 inspections, five restaurants had critical issues, and two had actual roaches. Yes. Roaches.

Here’s the not so appetizing recap:

  • Dwaraka Curry Point (Preston Rd) – Score: 27 | Roaches found, plus food safety issues.

  • Concrete Cowboy (The Star Blvd) – Score: 20 | Roaches also spotted here.

  • Norma’s Cafe (Gaylord Pkwy) – Score: 29 | Meat was held above safe temps and waffle mix sat at room temperature without proper time tracking.

  • Premier Desi District (Eldorado Pkwy) – Score: 29 | Missing documentation on hot food items led to voluntary disposal.

  • Jinbeh Restaurant (Preston Rd) – Score: 22 | Sushi and bar prep items weren’t cold enough.

Under the city's demerit-based system, scores over 30 can shut a place down.

Frisco Road Buckles from the Heat, Detour Now in Place

Texas summer did what Texas summer does best: broke stuff. A stretch of High Meadow Road at Downbrook Drive, inside the Trails subdivision, buckled under the heat, forming a visible dip in the pavement. And no, it’s not a new water feature, it’s a full closure until repairs are finished.

The good news? The city expects the road to reopen sometime next week. The bad news? Until then, you'll need to detour through Shiprock Rd, Remuda Rd, and Gladewater Dr if this was your daily drive.

It’s a good reminder to slow down, hydrate, and never underestimate what 95°F and a slab of Texas asphalt can do.

Frisco ISD Teacher Raises Officially Approved for 2025–26

Big news for local educators, Frisco ISD just gave the green light on a new compensation plan that’ll raise salaries for most of its staff next school year. Thanks to a combination of state mandates and district budgeting, teachers and support staff alike are seeing their paychecks get a little fatter.

Here’s what’s happening:

  • All eligible employees who’ve had a satisfactory evaluation will receive a 3% raise.

  • Teachers on stepped salary plans will get either their step increase or the 3%, depending on which is greater.

  • Brand-new teachers coming into FISD will now start at $62,000 per year, a bump from previous years.

This is part of a larger movement across DFW in response to House Bill 2, which mandates raises for teachers with three or more years of experience. Frisco ISD is also stepping up for staff not included under that bill. It’s good news in the world of education, and hopefully a step toward keeping classrooms filled with great teachers.
