The Friday Recap for Frisco
Howdy, Frisco
It’s Friday, May 16, and if you can smell summer in the air, you’re not alone. It’s getting hot, our weekend calendar is filling up with festivals and thunderstorms, and there’s something new brewing at the local coffee shop. Let’s get into it.

🎓 Will Karmelo Anthony Attend Graduation? Here’s What FISD Says
A letter from Frisco ISD Superintendent Mike Waldrip is pushing back against the media firestorm surrounding Centennial High's graduation. Rumors spread this week claiming that Karmelo Anthony, the student charged in the fatal stabbing of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf, would be allowed to graduate.
Waldrip clarified that no student charged with a Title V felony (like homicide) is allowed to participate in graduation ceremonies. While Anthony reportedly completed his credits and held a 3.7 GPA, he will not walk the stage.
“Our students, staff, and community deserve better,” Waldrip wrote..
🎓 12 Graduation Ceremonies Coming to Frisco May 21–23
Get ready to celebrate. Frisco ISD will host twelve graduation ceremonies across Ford Center at The Star and the Comerica Center from May 21–23. Each student receives 12 tickets, and all ceremonies will be livestreamed for those watching from home.
👟 Crocs Opening in Stonebriar Centre
Coming late summer 2025: Frisco will soon have its own Crocs store, opening on the lower level near See’s Candy at Stonebriar Centre. Get ready for comfort, clogs, and maybe a few sparkly Jibbitz.
☕ Bitty & Beau’s Coffee Opens with a Big Mission
Meet your new favorite cup of purpose. Bitty and Beau’s Coffee just opened in Frisco, hiring adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to brew up something more than caffeine.
Barista Matthew Phillips says it best: “I wanted to work here so I could make more friends. I'm a big social guy.”
The coffee shop is part of a national movement that’s reminding us all that everyone deserves a seat at the table. Or in this case, behind the counter.

That’s it for this week, Frisco. Whether you’re marching to Pomp and Circumstance or grooving to a brass quintet, make it meaningful. And as always please be kind, shop local, and try not to get struck by lightning.
Catch y’all Monday!
