The Wednesday Loop for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco.
First of all… can we talk about this weather glow-up? Last week we were fighting wind gusts like we were in a tornado simulator. This week? 90s in March. Texas said, “Spring? Never heard of her.”
If your AC made a suspicious noise yesterday, just know you’re not alone.
Let’s get into it, because this week we’ve got golf cleats for a cause, serious local headlines, flowers from a vending machine (yes really), and a big new move to protect Texas agriculture.

Texas Edition
⛳ PGA Pros to Wear “Cleats for Kids” at Texas Children’s Houston Open
The Texas Children’s Houston Open (March 26–29 at Memorial Park) is adding something special this year: custom designed golf shoes inspired by Texas Children’s patients.
Select PGA TOUR players, including defending champion Min Woo Lee, Gary Woodland, and Brooks Koepka, will wear one of a kind cleats designed by kids receiving care at Texas Children’s.
The shoes will:
Feature artwork inspired by patients
Share the kids’ stories
Be auctioned off after the tournament (100% of proceeds go to pediatric care and research)
One patient even designed cleats for Gary Woodland, incorporating a shared experience, both have battled brain tumors.
It’s one of those reminders that sports can be more than just sports. Every step on the course is helping raise awareness and funds for kids’ health.

🚨 Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett Speaks After Security Team Member Killed by Dallas SWAT
Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett issued a statement this week after it was confirmed that a man shot and killed by Dallas police had previously worked on her security team.
The man, identified as Diamon Mazairre Robinson (who publicly used the alias “Mike King”), was killed following a SWAT standoff after allegedly impersonating law enforcement. Authorities say he had a prior criminal history and was under federal investigation.
Crockett’s office stated that all proper House protocols were followed when contracting security services and emphasized that Robinson had worked respectfully and professionally during his time with the team.
The case has raised broader concerns about vetting processes for security contractors, especially for public officials who face frequent threats. More details are expected as the investigation continues.
🌸 Flower Vending Machine Opens in McKinney
Yes, you read that right.
Freshly Cut Stems, a flower farm based in Van Alstyne, has launched a self serve flower vending machine in downtown McKinney at 702 N. Tennessee St.
The machine is restocked multiple times per week and features farm grown seasonal bouquets. Early spring options include ranunculus and anemones.
Bouquets range from $35–$75.
So if you forget an anniversary, birthday, or “just because”….you now have a 24/7 redemption option.
And honestly? It’s kind of genius.
🌾 Texas Launches New Agricultural Defense Program
Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller announced the launch of the Agricultural Defense Program (AgDefense), a new initiative aimed at protecting Texas farmers and ranchers from pests, diseases, and wildlife threats.
The program will provide targeted financial support for projects that:
Monitor invasive pests
Address livestock disease
Protect crops
Manage wildlife depredation
Texas agriculture generates hundreds of billions in economic activity each year. Officials say this program is designed to respond quickly to emerging threats before they spread and cause widespread damage.
In short: protecting the backbone of rural Texas.
