Frisco Insider - Gag Order + No Phones + More

It’s August, y’all, the month when your steering wheel becomes a branding iron and your AC starts acting like it's unionized. Whether you’re laying low in the shade or braving the great outdoors, I’ve got everything to help you navigate this new week in Frisco like a pro.

Let’s dive into it before the sun cooks our brains.

Gag Order Issued in Frisco Track Meet Stabbing Case

The judge overseeing the case of State of Texas vs. Karmelo Anthony has issued a sweeping gag order.

Who’s affected?
Everyone from law enforcement to expert witnesses and even the accused parties, no public statements, no social media chatter. Nada. Unless it’s pre approved by the court.

📅 Trial Date: June 1, 2026
📍 Anthony was released on reduced bond in April and is currently on ankle monitor lockdown.

New School Year = No Cell Phones at FISD

Thanks to House Bill 1481, starting this fall, Frisco ISD students must keep all personal tech OFF during school hours.

🚫 This includes:

  • Cell phones

  • Smartwatches

  • Tablets

  • Earbuds & Bluetooth headphones

Any Exceptions?
Only district issued tech like Chromebooks are allowed. Emergencies? Parents should call the front office, not text.

Goal: Create a distraction free learning environment and boost face to face interaction. (And probably lower TikTok scrolling by 1000%). What are your thoughts?

Hudson House Opens in Frisco on August 6

Mark your calendars, Hudson House, the East Coast inspired raw bar and burger haven, is officially opening near Preston & Warren Parkway.

🍸 What to expect:

  • Legendary cheeseburgers

  • Half-priced martinis during happy hour (3–6 PM weekdays)

  • "World’s Coldest Martini" (we’ll be the judge of that)

Firefly Park's Dream Hotel Construction Begins February 2026

Frisco’s billion dollar playground keeps growing. Next up? The Dream Hotel, a 16-story luxury hotel coming to Firefly Park.

  • 190 rooms

  • Meeting spaces & offices

  • A restaurant

  • And yes, even a wedding chapel

Phase 1 also includes 230 townhomes, a 25,000-sq-ft amphitheater, a retail village, and a whole lotta parking. We’re basically building our own mini Dubai out here.
