The Friday Recap for Frisco
Howdy, Frisco, Happy Friday!
Congratulations, we officially survived the longest day of the year. The summer solstice was on the 21st, which means the days are technically getting shorter now. Don't panic though.β¦we're talking by seconds, not hours. It'll still be bright outside when you're wondering why it's somehow 8:30 PM and you still haven't figured out dinner.
This week, Universal Kids Resort gave us our first look at the food (yes, there's a Shrekzel), the Stars are bringing hockey prospects back to town, and Frisco's newest cold case investigation just took another major turn.
Let's get into it.

π₯¨ Universal Kids Resort Reveals Its Food Lineup
Universal Kids Resort officially opens July 1, and we finally know what everyone will be eating while chasing kids around the park.
The menus are themed after each land, and honestly... Universal went all in.
Minions: Banana popcorn, shaved ice, and a mac & cheese bread cone.
Shrek: The famous "Shrekzel" (yes, that's a pretzel), giant turkey legs, and Donkey's Cookies & Cream waffles.
Jurassic World: Chicken nugget volcanoes, beef bowls, campfire chicken bowls, and cauliflower curry.
Puss in Boots: Tacos, quesadillas, burrito bowls, flautas, and wraps.
SpongeBob: Burgers, grilled cheese, pizza melts, hot dogs, and an oversized Gooberberry sundae.
Trolls: Colorful soft serve, cupcakes, pizza, pasta, and desserts.
Parents will be happy to know there are actually some healthier meals mixed in too, because eventually someone has to eat a vegetable.
Moms Listen Up
Mamas, if you've tried getting back into a routine after baby and it just hasn't stuck, I get it. Between naps, feedings, and everything else, most workouts just don't fit your life right now.
That's why we built this.
We're a local fitness community in Frisco/McKinney where you bring your little one, rebuild strength, meet other moms, and stop trying to figure it out alone. This is fitness that actually fits your life. Try us with our $25 two week pass, available through July 10th. Fill out the form and we'll give you a call!
π Third Arrest Made in 24 Year Old Frisco Cold Case
Frisco Police have made a third arrest connected to the 2002 murder of Plano resident Frank Weiss.
Police arrested 50 year old Jason Honrud, who is married to Lisa Honrud, the victim's former wife, who was arrested earlier this year.
So far:
Three people have now been arrested.
Investigators say modern forensic technology and new witness information helped crack the decades-old case.
Weiss' daughter called the arrests "bittersweet," saying she had hoped for answers but never expected them after 24 years.
It's another reminder that even decades later, cold cases can still find justice.
π Dallas Stars Development Camp Returns to Frisco
Hockey fans, it won't be long before the ice is busy again.
The Dallas Stars' annual Development Camp runs June 29 through July 2 at Comerica Center in Frisco.
The best part
Admission is completely no cost.
Fans can watch the Stars' newest draft picks and top prospects practice before next season begins, and Thursday wraps things up with a fan appreciation day, skills competition, and mini tournament.
If you've never been, it's a fun way to see tomorrow's Stars before they become household names.
π TxDOT Features Frisco Teen in New Anti-DWI Campaign
TxDOT has launched its annual "Drive Sober. No Regrets." campaign ahead of the busy summer travel season.
This year's campaign centers around the story of Carly Beatty, a 19 year old Frisco native and Texas A&M student who was killed by an impaired driver in 2019.
Her family hopes sharing Carly's story encourages Texans to choose a sober ride this summer.
With World Cup traffic, July 4 celebrations, and vacation travel all ramping up, law enforcement across Texas will be increasing DWI patrols through July 6.
One ride share is always cheaper than a DWI.

Translation: It's "walk outside and immediately question your life choices" season. Stay hydrated, find shade when you can, and remember...your steering wheel is legally classified as a stovetop.
That's it for this week, Frisco!
Whether you're eating a chicken nugget volcano, singing along to ABBA, shopping local, or pretending your AC is winning the battle against Texas summer...I hope you have an awesome weekend.
And remember, the days may officially be getting shorter now...but somehow the Texas heat still has another three months of overtime planned.
Catch yβall Monday!
