The Monday Scoop for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco.
It’s Monday, you’ve survived the heat, dodged the mosquitoes, and probably contemplated moving into Costco just for the AC. I’ve got your rundown of what’s happening in town, and some serious news too.
Let’s get into it.

Frisco ISD Subpoenaed Over Student Info Tied to April Track Meet Stabbing
Frisco ISD just informed parents that student records will be released in connection to the April 2 stabbing of Austin Metcalf, unless families object by Tuesday, July 29.
What’s going on:
A court subpoena is requesting personal details of all Memorial High School students who were at the Kuykendall Stadium track meet, where 17-year-old Austin Metcalf was fatally stabbed.
🔍 Details being requested:
Full names
Dates of birth
Addresses
Parents’ names + contact info
🤔 Why this matters:
The subpoena overrides FERPA protections, but parents can challenge it by filing a motion and notifying the district before Tuesday. Frisco ISD says it must comply with the subpoena if no protective action is taken.
Wakeland Volleyball: New Coach, Same Big Dreams
After leading Wakeland to its first-ever state title, Coach U’iLani Womble is stepping down, but not far. She’s now an assistant athletic director for Frisco ISD.
Last year:
Wakeland shocked the state, taking out 10-time champs Lovejoy and clinching the 5A crown.
Meet the new head coach:
Ally Cobb, former assistant and familiar face, is taking the reins. With four key starters returning, including LSU commit Hannah Lee, expectations are sky high.
Designer Bags & Burglaries: High End Homes Targeted in Collin County
Residents in West Plano, Allen, or Frisco should definitely not post pictures of their jewelry online for now…
Plano PD says a ring of burglars has been hitting upscale homes while residents are away. Entry methods and getaway cars match up across incidents.
Tips:
Install cameras
Keep doors/windows locked (even if you’re just "running to Target")
Be nosy, report suspicious activity
